Invites applications for the position of:
Information Technology Technician - Full-Time Position
Under the direction of the Manager of Information Technology, the Information Technology Technician is responsible for ensuring Board IT equipment is kept in proper and safe operating condition by:
- Diagnosing problems and facilitating hardware repairs and maintenance on computer and audio visual systems
- Identifying and rectifying hazards that may pose risks to people's safety
- Coordinating installation of new IT equipment
- Responding to inquires for technical assistance
- Communicating with product vendors
- Managing the IT repair shop
The position also monitors the Board’s Helpdesk ticketing system and IT support phone line, ensuring timely access to service, triaging incoming requests, and providing both on-site and remote support for urgent technical issues to minimize downtime for staff.
The preferred candidate will have post-secondary education in Information Technology, 2 years experience working in the field of IT, and a keen interest in technology and/or training in a technological field. Experience diagnosing and repairing hardware issues on PC and Chrome OS technology will be considered a strong asset, as well as experience building/maintaining positive relationships with outside agencies (contractors and vendors).
The candidate should also have excellent customer service and problem solving skills, strong verbal and written communication skills, and leadership skills. This position requires travel within the city limits on a daily basis. A valid G-class driver's license and access to a personal vehicle are mandatory.
