Position Summary:
The Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) is responsible for the monitoring of life support equipment such as invasive and non-invasive ventilators. The RRT is required to initiate, monitor and discontinue oxygen therapy as needed. As an RRT you will be responding to cardiac arrest codes and high risk births for airway maintenance and resuscitation, and performing intubation as ordered by the physician. The role also involves providing patient and staff teaching as required.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality respiratory care as an integral part of the interprofessional healthcare team
- Key member of Critical Care Response Team and Code Blue Team
- Setup, calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot respiratory equipment
Qualifications:
- Graduate from a recognized School of Respiratory Therapy
- Current Registration and in good standing with the College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario (CRTO)
- Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certification required
- Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required
- Proven ability to thrive in fast-paced clinical environments
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and other essential healthcare software
- Strong leadership and problem-solving abilities
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Skilled in building positive, supportive relationships with patients, families, and healthcare professionals
- Ability to work effectively as a collaborative member of the critical care team
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the position
- Consistently demonstrates reliable attendance, punctuality, and high performance
