Main missions

The Sales Engineer for PTRV is responsible for driving business growth and customer success in North America for Mersen’s PTRV product line, including 3rd rail current collectors, onboard disconnector switches, fuse boxes, and earth return current units. The role combines technical expertise and customer engagement to support OEMs, transit authorities, and system integrators in selecting, specifying, and implementing the optimal solutions from Mersen’s PTRV portfolio.

Main duties

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key OEMs, transit authorities, and system integrators.
  • Advise customers on the selection and application of PTRV products to meet performance, safety, and reliability requirements.
  • Support sales activities by providing technical guidance, preparing proposals, and participating in customer presentations.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (engineering, project management, production) to ensure solutions meet customer requirements and project timelines.
  • Lead project follow-up from specification through delivery, including technical clarifications, BOMs, and spare parts recommendations.
  • Support new product introduction by providing field feedback and application insights to R&D and marketing teams.
  • Represent Mersen professionally at industry events, trade shows, and customer meetings.
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities through prospecting, networking, and expanding product adoption with existing customers.
  • Maintain accurate records in CRM and report on KPIs and sales performance regularly.
  • Respond to customer inquiries for product information, application support, and cross-references.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable safety and operational protocols in customer environments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering preferred.
  • 3+ years’ experience in technical sales or engineering in rail transit or related industries.
  • Technical knowledge of rail vehicle power systems, high-voltage electrical equipment, or related components.
  • Strong business development and customer relationship skills.
  • Bilingual English/French preferred.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% across North America; valid passport required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM tools (Salesforce preferred).
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated, customer-focused, and able to work independently.

Salary: CAD 80,000
