The Role
Our site in Entegris Canada - Toronto is seeking a Production Manager to join our team.
This role is a people‑focused leadership position responsible for building, developing, and sustaining a high‑performing production organization. The Production Manager prioritizes employee engagement, supervisor capability, performance management, and leadership consistency across all shifts.
Success in this role is achieved by coaching and developing the production team, reinforcing a strong safety culture, and ensuring clear accountability and effective communication throughout the organization. While maintaining responsibility for achieving production objectives related to safety, quality, audit readiness, cost control, on‑time delivery, and customer service, the Production Manager accomplishes results through effective leadership rather than direct technical execution.
The Production Manager applies proven practices in planning, organization, problem‑solving, and collaboration to optimize the use of resources and drive consistent performance. This role plays a key part in developing employees through coaching, training support, and clear performance expectations, while maintaining accountability aligned with the Company’s core values. The successful candidate will champion the principles, model positive behaviors, and demonstrate strong, visible leadership in all interactions with employees.
What You’ll Do
Leads, coaches, and develops Production Supervisors and Team Leads across all shifts to ensure consistent leadership capability, sound decision‑making, and recognition of team success. Collaborates cross‑functionally within manufacturing to address and resolve production issues. Proactively addresses employee performance concerns through timely, well‑documented coaching. Ensures corrective action plans are objective, clearly documented, and delivered in a timely and respectful manner. Responsible for interviewing, onboarding, coaching, and developing employees, and conducting timely and effective performance reviews. Maintains a strong presence on the production floor through regular off‑shift engagement, including early mornings, nights, and weekends, to verify standards and reinforce a strong safety culture. Champions safety programs, processes, procedures, and tools, ensuring initiatives to improve workplace safety are effectively implemented. Actively participates in and promotes employee involvement in Safety Leadership Team (SLT) initiatives, company‑sponsored safety programs, and 5S activities. Conducts audits and oversees production processes and employees to ensure product quality and compliance with established standards, focused audits, and work practices. Monitors documentation and electronic transactions to ensure the accuracy of work orders and inventory records. Works closely with Scheduling to balance production plans and support on‑time shipping goals. Partners with Schedulers to develop and implement action plans to address schedule disruptions. Owns production‑related cost performance for the operating area, including labor efficiency, overtime, yield, scrap, rework, and downtime. Analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement continuous process improvements. Any other duties as assigned.
What We Seek
Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Industrial Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; advanced degree preferred. Minimum of 10 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least 4 years of experience leading and developing people and teams; chemical manufacturing experience strongly preferred. Demonstrated success building leadership capability and developing talent for the future. Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem‑solving skills. Proven ability to partner and collaborate effectively across functions. Experience fostering innovation, continuous improvement, and operational excellence. Ability to lead with both tenacity and humility in a dynamic manufacturing environment. Strong customer‑centric mindset with the ability to balance operational and people priorities. Ability to make timely, data‑driven decisions in a fast‑paced setting. Experience using ERP systems (e.g., SAP) and standard manufacturing business tools; strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including off‑shift support, as required in a manufacturing environment. Lean Sigma Champion training or certification required (must be completed if not already certified).
Outstanding Candidates Will Have
Experience applying continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen. Demonstrated success improving manufacturing performance, including increasing yield, reducing material usage variance (MUV), minimizing rework and scrap, and improving equipment uptime. Experience working in regulated or high‑risk process manufacturing environments.
