Role Reports To Compliance Lead
Location: North America, Canada, Ontario, Guelph
Work Location: Fully Onsite
What You Will Do The Controlled Substances Lead is responsible for the development, implementation and maintenance of the site-wide Controlled Substances program in alignment with corporate and regulatory standards. The Controlled Substances Lead will be the Precursor Chemical Responsible Person In Charge (RPIC) and will coordinate and support Alternate RPICs on all shifts, reconcile and provide precursor containing materials for destruction, file license amendments, monthly reporting and annual precursor reports, and assess precursor impact and actions required for global change controls, and represent the site for Controlled Substances Regulatory audits as required.
They will ensure compliance with internal specifications, regulatory and corporate policies, and work with business partners to support the investigation of quality events if required. They will also identify and implement continuous improvement projects and update quality documentation, as required.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and support Alternate RPICs on all shifts
- Complete all documentation associated with Precursor Materials including reconciling and provide precursor containing materials for destruction, file license amendments, monthly reporting and annual precursor reports
- Assess precursor impact and actions required for change controls
- Own or support investigations as required
- Act as delegate for Compliance Lead, as required
- Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Internal/External Audits
- Continuous Improvement Projects as required.
Required Qualifications What we are looking for
- B.Sc in Science or related field
- 5+ years of related experience in Pharmaceutical or related field
- Strong attention to detail
- Understanding of quality control principles (USP, GMP, GDP)
- Ability to work with limited supervision and function effectively in a team environment is essential
Desired Qualifications
- Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members
- Ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks efficiently
- Strong technical writing experience
- Strong computer skills and ERP system knowledge
- Familiarity with the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act is an asset
- Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize workload
- Demonstrated problem solving and multitasking capabilities
- Excellent decision-making abilities
- Knowledge of Process Excellence/Lean is an asset
