This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Sr Staff Software Engineer, Stream Control Plane in Canada.

As a Sr Staff Software Engineer, you will play a key role in shaping and building the control plane for a high-performance, real-time data streaming platform. You will design, develop, and optimize distributed systems that process massive data volumes while ensuring reliability, scalability, and operational excellence. This role combines hands-on development with technical leadership, allowing you to influence the product roadmap, mentor engineers, and implement innovative solutions that directly enhance customer observability and control. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams in a remote-first environment, delivering impactful features that power complex enterprise-scale deployments.

Accountabilities:

·         Lead the design, development, and deployment of scalable, robust features for the Stream Control Plane.

·         Provide technical thought leadership and set best practices across software engineering processes.

·         Mentor and coach junior engineers, fostering knowledge sharing and growth within the team.

·         Collaborate with product managers, UX designers, and business teams to translate specifications into high-quality code.

·         Introduce performance, reliability, and efficiency improvements across distributed systems.

·         Participate in on-call rotations and provide support for SaaS products as required.

·         Advocate for customer-focused solutions and ensure high-quality deliverables across all features.

Requirements

·         BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field with 12+ years of experience, or MS with 8+ years.

·         Deep expertise in building large-scale distributed systems and performance optimization.

·         Strong knowledge of APIs (REST and RPC) and cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.

·         Proficient in Node.js, JavaScript/TypeScript, Docker, Kubernetes, and Linux systems.

·         Extensive experience with data structures, algorithms, operating systems, and distributed systems.

·         Excellent communication skills, able to explain complex technical topics clearly in remote environments.

·         Self-driven with a proven ability to learn new technologies, develop prototypes, and deliver high-quality results.

·         Experience with Agile processes and rapid iterative development.
