Foran Mining Corporation (TSX:FOM) is a forward-thinking mining company redefining the industry. We are seeking a Safety & Security Superintendent to join our growing McIlvenna Bay team. This is a full-time position based at the McIlvenna Bay site working a 14/14 rotation.
Foran Mining is a modern mining development and exploration company advancing Canada's only greenfield copper project currently under construction: the McIlvenna Bay deposit in Saskatchewan. The Safety & Security Superintendent leads a team of employees and contractors in the areas of Safety, Security and Emergency Response. This role is responsible for helping to develop, implement, and continuously improve policies, procedures, and strategies that ensure a safe and secure working environment for all employees, contractors, and visitors. The Superintendent collaborates with cross-functional teams to advance safety initiatives, foster a strong culture of health and well-being, and maintain compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements.
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide technical guidance, leadership, and coaching to Safety, Security, and Emergency Response teams.
- Support management with risk identification, mitigation, and promoting a risk-focused culture across site operations.
- Manage and implement technology systems within the Safety and Security portfolio.
- Lead field safety activities, including inspections, FRAs, JHAs, audits, and incident investigations with effective follow-up.
- Promote a strong safety culture through active engagement, field presence, and visible leadership.
- Oversee physical security programs, including access control, surveillance, and emergency readiness.
- Lead site-wide emergency preparedness, including Mine Rescue, training, mock drills, and readiness assessments.
- Ensure compliance with all safety and security regulations and update programs as standards evolve.
- Support performance monitoring by compiling field data, conducting analysis, and assisting with reporting.
- Build strong relationships with contractors, regulators, and safety authorities.
- Ensure safety and security equipment and systems are maintained, available, and compliant.
- Provide leadership as part of the Site Control Group and Crisis Management Team during emergencies.
- Act as Health and Safety Manager designate as required.
Job Qualifications and Skills:
- Strong background in field safety management in the mining sector.
- Solid understanding of health and safety regulations.
- Proactive approach to risk management and security operations.
- 5+ years’ experience in underground mining.
- 5+ years of direct leadership experience.
- 10+ years of Health and Safety experience.
- Experience leading or coordinating Mine Rescue programs is an asset.
- University or college education in Health and Safety is an asset.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills to interpret information and support decision-making.
- Proficient with MS Office.
- Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
- Takes initiative and can work independently with minimal supervision.
Compensation and Benefits:
We offer a competitive starting salary based on experience and qualifications. Annual discretionary short term and long-term incentive award at a percentage of base salary, rewarding exceptional contributions to team and company success.
