How you’ll make an impact
Our Quality Assurance Analyst will work as a member of TaxCycle’s product development team to help create quality software products by implementing and executing tests and effectively reporting issues while ensuring a broad depth of coverage of TaxCycle product releases. The tester will also leverage their existing knowledge and experience in accounting or tax preparation to help create software that meets the needs of professional tax preparers. The analyst will work closely with cross-functional product team members to provide and sustain an exceptional quality assurance level across our suite of products.
What you’ll do
-
- Identifying, analyzing, and accurately reporting issues, questionable functionality, and inconsistencies in tax calculations within the software.
- Applying accounting & income tax knowledge to develop and execute test plans and use cases.
- Testing the TaxCycle software applications on a variety of network configurations and versions of Windows operating systems.
- Applying project management skills in determining priorities for testing and managing testing of multiple products/features simultaneously.
- Utilize your Quality Assurance knowledge to develop manual tests & test procedures across system level changes, user interface, program functionality & quality with a focus on income tax testing scenarios.
- Participating in the development and documentation of key operational processes, checklists and product specifications.
- Responding to customer support issues by telephone and email, if required.
- Providing recommendations for user interface design changes or detailed income tax calculation assistance worksheets
Success looks like

- You will ensure that the solutions provided by developers are presented in a workable and usable format for the user.
- Offer timely and precise feedback to the product and development teams regarding new or enhanced features.
- Testing new features and functionality while ensuring a high level of quality across the TaxCycle product range. This includes regression testing of existing functionality and thorough analysis of new features/functionality.
- Formulate and refine test cases and test plans for designated development feature releases.
- Implement test plans in accordance with the agreed-upon schedule and process.
- Provide recommendations and assist in automating key areas for regression testing.
- Generate and report testing outcomes utilizing team defined test plans, which encompass issue logging, tracking, and retesting efforts.
- You understand our customers and their problems and work along with the TaxCycle team in proactively implementing tax scenario tests.
- Assistance in ensuring and defining year to year carryforward fields of both TaxCycle key tax balances and identifying data as well as pertinent information from competitor tax products.

- Experience in testing software applications & websites
- Strong organizational skills, with careful attention to detail when reporting issues
- Strong technical knowledge of Windows operating systems and network environments
- Solid investigative and analytical skills
- Excellent communication skills within the team and working across cross-functional teams
- Positive attitude and a desire to learn
- Excellent strategy skills, including creating test plans with or without specification documents
- Proficient in testing diverse User Interfaces for client-facing software solutions.
- Canadian Income Tax legislation and accounting knowledge; Experience preparing or reviewing Canadian personal, corporate, trust, and partnership income tax returns, with a keen interest in legislative changes and new government filing or auxiliary services.
- An aptitude and desire to improve processes and procedures along with effective documentation capabilities.
- Experience in setting up and managing both physical and virtual machine test environments.
- Management of multiple testing plans or projects at once with the ability to adapt rapidly to time sensitive testing for multiple products
- Capability to design and implement, update automated test plans and user test scenarios
- Bilingual proficiency (English and French) a plus
