We are seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Analyst to join the OMERS Corporate Finance team. Reporting directly to the Manager, Financial Reporting, this role is a key contributor to the high-quality, timely preparation of OMERS financial reporting. As an Analyst, you will support monthly financial close activities, including journal entry preparation, account reconciliations, intercompany invoicing, and process enhancements.

This position requires accounting expertise, curiosity and a passion for automation and continuous improvement, along with enthusiasm for innovative ways of working. The person who fills this role will be a relied upon member of the OMERS Corporate Finance team. Our ambitions are high: we aim to be the best corporate finance team in the Canadian pension industry.

We believe that time together in the office is important for OMERS and Oxford, the strength of our employees, and the work we do for our pension members. Our hybrid work guideline requires teams to come to the office a minimum of 4 days per week.

As a member of this team, you will be responsible for:
Preparing monthly journal entries and accruals

Submitting intercompany invoices and supporting finance teams to substantiate invoice details

Preparing monthly account reconciliations, including investigating and resolving differences in a timely manner

Compilation of annual financial statements for external reporting and other regulatory filings

Preparing regular reporting packages to senior leaders and other stakeholders

Ensuring a robust internal controls process and the accuracy of financial reporting

Evolving financial reporting processes and enhancing controls with a focus on automation

Preparing process documentation and identifying and supporting process improvements

Coordinating with external auditors for fieldwork and preparing working papers

Collaborating with a team of professional accountants, strengthening culture and community, and driving excellence and expertise

Participating in technical training and development opportunities

Other contributions, as the team may need and as opportunities arise

To succeed in this role, you have:
1-3 years experience in similar corporate financial reporting roles with a solid understanding of financial reporting close processes and experience in data collection and analysis

Post-secondary degree in business, accounting, or finance

A CPA designation or working towards the designation

Experience in data automation improvement and process optimization, using platforms such as Alteryx, and in data management and visualization tools, including Microsoft Power BI would be an asset

A high proficiency in Microsoft Excel

A good understanding of finance systems, where experience with Oracle would be an asset

A collaborative approach with the ability to operate in a fast-paced environment with numerous priorities and reporting deadlines
