About the rolePace Law is seeking an experienced commercial litigator to handle active and incoming matters on a contract basis. You’ll run files with autonomy, collaborate with our team as needed, and step into hearings and trials with confidence.
What you’ll do
-
Manage commercial litigation files from pleadings through appeal, as needed
-
Draft and argue motions; conduct discoveries, mediations, pre-trials, and trials
-
Prepare concise, persuasive written materials (facta, briefs, affidavits)
-
Advise clients on risk, strategy, settlement, and costs
-
Coordinate with clerks/junior counsel for efficient file execution
What you bring
-
Called to the Ontario Bar 5+ years and in good standing with the LSO
-
Proven trial experience in the Superior Court (must-have)
-
Strong advocacy, drafting, and file-management skills
-
Ability to work independently on a contract/remote-hybrid basis
-
Business sense and clear client communication
-
LawPRO coverage as applicable
Nice to have
-
Experience with Filevine or similar practice tools
-
Appeals experience
Contract; flexible hours based on file needs
