Role: Senior Business Analyst with Banking
Title: AVP/VP Location: Montreal, Canada Mode of Work: 3 days/week onsite Required Experience: 10 years
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst with deep expertise in Banking and Financial Services to join our Montreal team. The ideal candidate will bring 10+ years of experience bridging the gap between business stakeholders and technology teams, driving strategic initiatives, and delivering high-impact solutions across banking operations, regulatory compliance, and digital transformation programs.
Required Qualifications
10+ years of experience as a Business Analyst in Banking or Financial Services Strong understanding of banking products — retail, corporate, investment banking, and treasury Proven expertise in requirements gathering, BRD, FRD, and user stories Experience working in Agile, Scrum, Waterfall, and hybrid delivery models Working knowledge of banking regulations — Basel, AML, KYC, and FRTB Proficiency in BA tools — JIRA, Confluence, MS Visio, Lucidchart, and SharePoint Strong SQL skills and data analysis capabilities Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English Bilingual English/French preferred for Montreal office requirement Demonstrated ability to facilitate workshops, JAD sessions, and stakeholder interviews Experience developing AS-IS and TO-BE process models Strong ability to prepare executive-level presentations and reports Proven experience managing UAT cycles and validating business requirements Ability to work effectively in a global, cross-functional, matrixed environment
Key Responsibilities
Elicit, analyze, and document detailed business and functional requirements from senior stakeholders across banking operations, risk, compliance, and technology teams Translate complex business needs into clear functional specifications, user stories, process flows, and use cases Lead end-to-end business analysis across the full project lifecycle — from discovery and requirements gathering through UAT and post-implementation support Partner with technology, operations, and business teams to deliver banking transformation initiatives including core banking upgrades, regulatory programs, and digital platforms Conduct gap analysis, impact assessments, and feasibility studies for proposed solutions Facilitate workshops, interviews, and JAD sessions with cross-functional stakeholders to drive alignment Develop and maintain business process models (AS-IS and TO-BE) using industry-standard tools Define and execute UAT plans, coordinate testing cycles, and validate that solutions meet business requirements. Prepare executive-level presentations, dashboards, and reports for senior management Act as a liaison between business and technology teams, ensuring clear communication and shared understanding Identify process improvement opportunities and drive operational efficiency initiatives Manage and maintain traceability matrices and ensure requirements are fully covered in design and testing.
