Position Details
The Information Technology Team is currently seeking an Enterprise Application Specialist to join our team. The Enterprise Application Specialist will be responsible for leading the effort to organize and integrate applications and related data across the organization. This position will work across all Explore Edmonton portfolios to ensure new applications and data are integrated into existing systems and infrastructure. This position will also oversee Explore Edmonton’s application portfolio. They will understand and document all applications and make recommendations to avoid duplicate functionality. This position will be responsible for effectively managing Explore Edmonton’s SaaS and server-based data systems and making recommendations for enhancements and optimization. They will provide expertise on projects as well as design, develop and implement software solutions that automate or streamline business processes.
The Information Technology department is part of our Corporate Services Group. This group is a team of service-minded individuals who are passionate about developing and implementing smart, customer-focused business processes. This team serves multiple internal customers and comprises key business enablers and trusted business partners who deliver superior customer service through collaboration, innovation, partnerships, and leadership, ensuring the best possible user experience. In alignment with Explore Edmonton's needs, services include providing governance advice and support, offering scalable business solutions, and creating value for employees by building and facilitating connections across the organization.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- The development and implementation of small applications, integrations, automations, scripts, and workflows.
- The development, support and integration of enterprise systems (ERP, CRM, HCM, etc) with other applications and data solutions, via REST APIs, Graph API, webhooks, and available SDKs.
- Overseeing technical design and code reviews of application development initiatives to maintain the integrity and scalability of developed code.
- Lead AI adoption and automation projects across the enterprise to improve operational efficiency and user experience.
- Setup and configuration of databases, data services, and data integration solutions
(SQL Server, Azure SQL, Azure Storage, etc.). - Oversight of Explore Edmonton websites and associated systems (domain registrations, SSL certificates, DNS, etc.).
- The creation and maintenance of comprehensive application documentation.
- Enabling data-driven decision-making initiatives across the organization by supporting integration with existing enterprise applications, large language models, and generative AI.
- Ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of enterprise data.
- Script development for data process automation and synchronization (PowerShell, Python, C#, .NET worker services, Azure Automation).
- Promoting and educating business areas on workplace automation opportunities through low-code applications and workflow tools, helping users identify processes that can be streamlined and connecting them with appropriate automation resources.
- Developing and implementing technology improvement solutions which enhance productivity and reduce application, data, and software technology conflicts across the organization.
- Working alongside other business units and IT team members to improve existing Microsoft 365 services: MS Teams, Viva, MS Planner, SharePoint, OneDrive, etc., ensuring alignment with business goals while monitoring and communicating new features in Microsoft 365 and Azure that could benefit organizational productivity
- Providing accurate and regular reports to IT Leadership on the performance of applications and systems.
- Building strong relationships with teams and stakeholders to enable effective dialogue exchange between departments
The successful candidate will have:
- Post-secondary education in Information Technology or Computer Science
- 5+ years of related experience
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Azure cloud management and practical experience with C#, .NET development (Core or Framework), and modern integration practices using APIs and SDKs.
- Proven experience developing comprehensive applications and data solutions
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Experience conducting research on technology, trends, standards, and products research
- Knowledge of data governance, security, and integration concepts
- Advanced knowledge with PowerShell, Python, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, XML, YAML, Git
- Experienced with M365, Graph, and system automation (Ansible, Puppet, etc.)
- Familiarity with Azure & AWS Azure experience should include Azure AD/Entra ID, App Services, Azure SQL, Azure Functions, cloud networking, and identity/security best practices.
- Familiarity with AI and LLMs
- The ability to take business requirements and deliver solutions
- The ability to create clear, comprehensive documentation
- Flexibility with travel between Explore Edmonton locations
- Excellent planning and organizational skills
- A customer-focused mindset
- The ability to work in a team environment
