Under the limited direction of the Payroll Lead, you will be responsible for providing day-to-day leadership and work coordination for
the Payroll Advisors in support of running the biweekly payroll and ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, legislation,
policy, and collective agreements.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for running biweekly payroll, including the recall and reissuing of payments.
  • Responsible for all Payroll-related statutory remittances.
  • Monitor the Payroll Mailbox, run actions and coordinate the distribution of tasks.
  • Verify all biweekly work of the Payroll Advisors.
  • Provide on the job guidance and direction to Payroll Advisors including performance management and responding to

escalated issues.

  • Responsible for analyzing and evaluating payroll/benefit issues, taking independent action when warranted and providing

recommendations for resolution.

  • Reconcile payroll related expense and benefit liability accounts and prepare adjusting SAP journal entries.
  • Assist the Payroll Lead in year-end payroll responsibilities: calculation of taxable benefits, preparation of external tax returns

(T4/T4A Summaries) and other year-end duties.

  • Work closely with the Payroll Lead in process improvement activities including documentation of current processes.
  • Develop training material for staff and take a lead role in training new employees to the Section.
  • Implement severance and settlement agreements.

Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 education plus completion of a Payroll Compliance Professional certificate or a Payroll Leadership Professional

certificate plus completion of a related certificate and six years of directly related payroll experience.

  • Demonstrated advanced knowledge of SAP and the HRMS.
  • Demonstrated PC skills with a working knowledge of Word and Excel.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Provincial and Federal Legislated payroll reporting requirements.
  • Detailed working knowledge of Manitoba Hydro's accounting structure/functions, payroll processes, procedures, corporate

policies, government regulations and collective agreements.

  • Proven interpersonal skills with the demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships at various

levels within the Corporation as well as with external agencies.

Salary Range

Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The range for the classification is $36.02-$49.84 Hourly,
$69,020.64-$95,503.46 Annually.
