##Job Summary

FINANCIAL OFFICER

  • The Financial Officer is responsible for a specific sub-set of the tasks below, which varies by position:

  • Coordinating efforts around the quality assurance function for the integrity of financial data to be entered into the organization’s financial system.

  • Providing guidance and instruction to employees in carrying out their financial management functions.

  • Supervising the activities of a team of employees by setting annual work objectives, coordinating and prioritizing how the activities to complete objectives, and providing continued feedback on performance. Overseeing the payment functions, including approving payments.

  • Reconciling and analyzing financial data to supporting documents or other internal or external systems to ensure the integrity of data in the organization’s financial system.

  • Analyzing financial data and incorporating the analysis into reports to support management decision-making process.

  • Supporting the management of the delegation of financial signing authorities by administering various aspects of the internal controls system over these authorities.

  • Supporting the maintenance of the organization’s financial system by performing routine system maintenance functions and coordinating problem resolution in respect to these systems.

##Education

  • Undergraduate degree with a specialization in accounting, finance, business administration, commerce or economics and one (1) years of experience*
  • College diploma in accounting, finance, business administration, commerce or economics and two (2) years of experience*
  • Canada Financial Management Certificate and two (2) years of recent**experience*

**Recent is defined as experience acquired within the last seven (7) years of experience.

The undergraduate degree/College Diploma must be in the field of studies needed for the position. It must be obtained from an accredited learning institution recognized in Canada. If you completed a program outside of Canada, you will be required to obtain proof of a Canadian equivalency at your expense from an accredited learning institution recognized in Canada.

##Experience

  • Experience is defined as experience related to positions in the Financial Management subgroup.

Additional experience required: must include at least two (2) of the following areas of activity:

  • Experience in applying financial policies;

  • Experience providing advice to managers or employees on financial matters;

  • Experience in accounting operations;

  • Experience in using and managing a financial system.

##Assets
