Our Senior Technical Managers collaborate across the organization to drive innovation in products and processes, build high-performing technical teams, and ensure we deliver exceptional quality to our customers.

We are seeking a Senior Technical Manager to support our Veneer and Strand-Based Businesses at mills located in British Columbia, Alberta, and Saskatchewan. This is a remote-based position that requires extensive travel (50% or more) within the region.

If you are an experienced leader with a strong background in OSB and EWP products, this is an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact.

Our ideal candidate has the following qualifications:

  • Degree or diploma in Wood Science, Forestry, Engineering, or a related technical field.

  • 5–7 years experience as a Technical Manager within the wood products or manufacturing industry.

  • Working experience with different mills or multiple mills.

  • Strong knowledge of OSB and engineered wood manufacturing processes and quality standards.

  • Proven leadership experience with the ability to manage and develop teams.

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

  • Strong project management skills and statistical skills.

  • Familiarity with quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001) and continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma).

In this role you will:

  • Mentor mill Technical Managers and technical teams.

  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement that fosters collaboration and standardization between mills.

  • Oversee and lead recipe and process optimization trials across mills.

  • Monitor and ensure adherence to quality standards, analyzing performance against budget and implementing corrective action plans for divisions with negative product performance and/or financial variance.

  • Collaborate with internal teams and maintain strong external relationships with 3rd party certification agencies and vendors.

  • Support the deployment, ongoing execution, and continuous improvement of the Tolko Quality Management System (TQM 9000) across mills.

  • Investigate customer claims & complaints and ensure effective corrective actions are implemented.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to solve quality and process challenges and contribute to the development of new products and procedures.

We value diversity at Tolko and know experience and knowledge come in many forms so even if you don't have all the qualifications above, please apply. We’d love to hear your story and have you grow with us.

So, what’s in it for you?

  • You’ll take on an exciting new challenge with supportive team members.

  • You’ll earn a competitive salary based on your skills and experience. The expected base salary range for this position is $117,000-$156,000.
