Job Details:

Position Title: Assistant Registrar, Recruitment

Status: Full-Time Admin

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Program/Department: Student Recruitment and Admissions

Campus/Location: The University of Guelph-Humber (207 Humber College Blvd, Toronto) is located within the traditional and treaty lands of the Mississaugas of the Credit.

Minimum Starting Salary: $95,579; starting salaries are determined based on qualifications and years of related experience.

About the Associate Registrar, Recruitment Role:

The Assistant Registrar oversees targeted recruitment initiatives, manages and develops a high-performing recruitment team, coordinates recruitment travel and events, and cultivates strong internal and external stakeholder relationships. The role contributes to enrolment management by analyzing market trends, advising senior leadership, and collaborating with stakeholders across the University to deliver coordinated, pan-University recruitment initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Planning

  • Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of a comprehensive domestic undergraduate recruitment and conversion strategy aligned with institutional enrolment goals.
  • Monitor and analyze market trends, applicant data, and CRM insights to inform recruitment planning, projections, and continuous improvement.

Recruitment Programs & Operations

  • Oversee all recruitment programs, outreach, travel, and events (in person and virtual), including school visits, regional fairs, OUF, campus tours, and open house events.
  • Refine messaging, presentation and outreach and engagement initiatives
  • Ensure recruitment activities and communications support the University’s reputation, brand, and strategic objectives across print, digital, web, and CRM platforms.

Staff Leadership & Development

  • Lead, supervise, and develop the recruitment team, including staff, recruiters, and student ambassadors.
  • Oversee hiring, training, performance management, workflow coordination, and service quality standards.

Budget & Resource Management

  • Develop, recommend, and manage the Student Recruitment budget, including marketing, travel, events, and staffing resources.

Relationship Management & Representation

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with secondary schools, colleges, sector partners, and professional associations.
  • Serve as a knowledgeable resource on University programs, admissions requirements, policies, and student services.

What you bring to the role:

Education

  • A 4-year (honours) university degree, preferably in business, marketing, public relations, or another related field, preferably in a post-secondary environment.

Experience and Skills

  • Six (6) to eight (8) years of progressive university student recruitment, admissions and/or outreach experience, including experience managing a budget and allocating resources.
  • Thorough and extensive knowledge of the educational system at all levels, including knowledge of strategic enrolment management principles.
  • Strong understanding and knowledge of the higher education landscape; especially undergraduate study;
  • Experience using CRM systems (e.g., Slate, Colleague or similar) to support recruitment strategy, reporting, and decision-making
  • Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences
  • Demonstrated people leadership and management experience in a unionized environment.
  • Proven experience developing strategic and operational plans, preferably as they relate to student outreach or recruitment, and enrolment.
  • Experience building collaborative working relationships with multiple stakeholders, internal and external.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively and develop good working relationships with students, co-workers, senior university administrators, and external clients.
  • Regular travel across Ontario and occasional travel beyond the province during peak periods
  • Evening and weekend work during peak recruitment periods
