About the role
Are you a seasoned financial leader ready to make a significant impact? Our building supplies distribution company is seeking a full-time Controller to oversee and elevate our financial operations.
Reporting to the CFO, you’ll lead budgeting, financial planning, and reporting functions, ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards and driving operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate financial planning and budget management across the organization.
- Monitor monthly operating results and provide insightful analysis against budget.
- Recommend performance benchmarks for departments and divisions.
- Oversee debt financing and service payments with external agencies.
- Manage daily operations of the finance department.
- Manage the preparation of the official annual report of actual revenues, transfers, and expenses.
- Ensure compliance with local, provincial, and federal reporting requirements.
- Establish departmental goals, policies, and procedures aligned with company strategy.
- Build and maintain an effective finance team structure.
- Direct financial audits and recommend process improvements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What You Bring
- CGA designation with 5 - 10 years of senior-level experience in finance or accounting.
- Experience in warehousing/distribution preferred.
- Deep knowledge of GAAP, budgeting, cost control, and financial reporting systems.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to prepare financial statements and projections.
- Experience with short- and long-term budgeting, rolling forecasts, and product-line profitability analysis.
- Familiarity with provincial and federal financial regulations.

The company has grown to encompass five branches in Alberta, and one branch in Saskatchewan. We now sell over 2,500 building products for all your wall, ceiling and roofing needs.
