The Position:
We are looking for a Financial Data Analyst to join BrokerLink and work from our Calgary office on a Permanent FT Basis.
Seeking an experienced Financial Data Analyst to join our FP&A team and lead our data infrastructure modernization efforts. This role would make an immediate impact by transforming our reporting capabilities from legacy Access databases to modern SQL and Databricks solutions. We are seeking an individual with strong business acumen, analytical modeling capabilities, coupled with advanced proficiency in Excel. This role offers a unique opportunity to collaborate with a financially driven FP&A team and serve as a key technical partner and leader.

What the Role Entails:
- Modernize Data Infrastructure: Technical lead for the conversion of existing Access databases into scalable SQL and Databricks reporting solutions
- Build Analytical Models: Develop and maintain analytical models that drive executive decision-making
- Create Executive Dashboards: Design and deliver executive-level dashboards and reports that translate complex data into actionable insights
- Strategic Analysis: Conduct ad-hoc analyses to support strategic initiatives and answer critical business questions
- Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Partner with accounting and finance teams to understand requirements and deliver data solutions that meet their needs
- Optimize Reporting: Streamline existing reporting processes through automation and best practices in data management
The Successful candidate will have:

- Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, MIS or related field
- Professional post graduate certification in related fields would be highly valued.
- Ie Business Intelligence and Data Analytics from University of Calgary.
- 5+ years of experience in a Data/Financial Analyst or similar role.
- Expert-level SQL skills with demonstrated ability to write complex queries, optimize performance, and an ability to manipulate large complex datasets.
- Database migration experience with a proven track record converting legacy systems (Access, etc.) to modern data platforms
- Advanced Excel proficiency. Skilled in building dynamic financial models with advanced formulas, modelling data for scenario analysis and VBA/Macros to streamline processes
- Experience working with data visualization tools such as PowerBI.
- Working Knowledge of Oracle would be a valued asset
- Positive team player with excellent communication skills and ability to serve as key technical partner and leader within our FP&A team.
- Willingness to adapt working hours to meet critical deadlines and peak operational periods.
- Demonstrates a strong sense of ownership and accountability
