General Description
As a Maintenance Coordination Student, you will assist with many of the day-to-day administrative functions related to maintenance operations such as parts procurement, billing, and accounting processes. You will work closely with vendors, track maintenance schedules, and ensure all equipment is serviced, tracked, and billed accurately.
Schedule: Monday to Friday (40h/week)
Salary: $20/h
As a summer student with us, the minimum responsibilities are:
Assist with maintenance coordination for the Hamilton Maintenance Shop (62 units) and 5 Transfer Stations (12 units of heavy equipment). Order parts, coordinate outside repairs, and arrange towing services for fleet and heavy equipment. Track preventative maintenance (PMs) and Yellow Iron hours in the EMS system, ensuring all work is scheduled and up to date. Manage work orders for outside repairs, towing, and tires in the RTA system. Ensure fire suppression systems and extinguishers are maintained and compliant. Maintain accurate inventory records, ensuring costs are tracked and updated daily. Shadow maintenance technicians and support vehicle maintenance Reconcile units for sticker renewals and submit documentation to the Distribution Center. Ensure compliance with Ministry of Transportation and internal Waste Connections standards for record-keeping. Assist with yard and shop operations, including preventative maintenance.
What We Need From You
Strong organizational and communication skills. Familiarity with vendor relations, inventory management, and procurement. Ability to manage and reconcile data from multiple sources and maintain accurate financial records. Ability to multitask, prioritize, and thrive in a fast-paced environment. Must be able to pass all pre-employment requirements
