As a Junior Product Development Engineer with Calstone, you will have the chance to see the design and engineering of your product from start to finish including; planning, designing, composing, evaluating, and advising on product design & manufacturing.

Your next Career: Junior Product Development Engineer
Reports to the Engineering Manager and uses their skills to design the concept and implement the manufacturing of all products to meet and exceed our customers’ expectations. All designs take into account the highest quality, efficient time frames (assembly) safety of product, and all at lower costs.
Product Development Engineers identify the needs and goals for a new product, from function to aesthetics. They will coordinate with customers as required and sourcing engineer to evaluate the customer’s needs, existing competition and potential costs.
Responsibilities:
-
Processing all special / custom work orders – all materials required to be ordered for these jobs are ordered through purchasing (metal, tubing etc.) Working with Sourcing Engineer

Filing and organizing hard copies of all Calstone product drawings used in manufacturing – masters and manufacturing copies
-
Organizing all digital files of all Calstone product drawings
-
Organizing all digital work order files
-
Creating Computer Drawings of all products
-
Participating in Work Order Meetings every day (Review all jobs – double checking, materials required for purchasing etc.)
-
Creating all mechanical / computer drawings required for the manufacturing of the full line of Calstone products
-
Designing custom furniture to be manufactured
-
Liaising with Manufacturing team to propose product improvements/solutions
-
Ensuring proper storage control of hardcopies / computer drawings
-
Working with owners / team regarding special orders
-
Working with quoting specialists to design new products
-
Working with Director of Accounts / owners on improvement of present products – product development (Prototypes)
-
Developing special / custom products, as may be required by owners / Director of Accounts – Start to finish
Required:
-
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical or other related engineering disciplines
-
1-2 years of relevant Solidworks Sheet Metal Features experience
-
1-2 years of experience with producing detailed drawings using Solidworks, including Design Table and PDM Vault
-
Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project
-
Exceptional communication skills
-
Positive attitude, and works well independently and in a team setting
-
Valid driver’s license and a vehicle (for travel to and from the Office and Manufacturing facility 1km apart)
Preferred:
-
Background in G Code Programming for CNC machinery is favourable

Engineering Aluminum based products
-
Working towards P.Eng (Professional Engineer) License
-
Experience with Solidworks design table (for adding different configurations), Solidworks PDM and Solidworks simulation.
