Position Details
- Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday
- Salary Range: $60,000 to $100,000 per year
- Location: Remote in Canada
Role Overview The Application Consultant is responsible for implementing, configuring, and supporting Univerus’ suite of solutions built on Microsoft’s Power Platform, with a strong focus on Model-Driven Apps. This role bridges the gap between business needs and technical delivery — working with clients to understand requirements, configure applications, and deliver scalable solutions using Power Apps and Power Automate. As a consultant, this role also focuses on building strong relationships with clients, understanding their business processes, and ensuring each solution delivers measurable impact and lasting value. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with Power Platform and is comfortable building custom business logic to enhance and tailor application behavior to meet customer needs. They are proactive, curious, and committed to delivering high-quality, maintainable solutions that drive measurable value for customers. This is a client-facing position that requires strong communication skills and the ability to engage directly with customers to understand their needs, present solutions, and provide ongoing support throughout the project lifecycle.
Organizational Relationship Reports directly to the Implementation Manager and works closely with:
- Project Managers and Implementation Consultants
- Development Manager and Software Developers
- QA and Testing Teams
- Client stakeholders and end users
The Applications Consultant acts as a key link between clients and the Univerus technical team — ensuring that solutions are both functional and aligned with best practices within the Power Platform environment.
Key Responsibilities Solution Design and Architecture
- Translate client business requirements into functional and scalable solution designs.
- Assist with data modeling, Dataverse schema design, and system integrations with SharePoint, SQL Server, and other applications.
- Adhere to governance, security, and environment management with best practices within the Power Platform.
Configuration and Development
- Configure, customize, and deploy solutions using Power Apps, Power Automate, and Power BI.
- Customize forms, views, and UI to enhance user experience.
- Develop and configure business process flows, plugins, and automations to optimize client operations.
Client Engagement and Delivery
- Serve as a point of contact for clients during project delivery, ensuring clear communication and a collaborative approach throughout implementation.
- Facilitate client workshops and feedback sessions to refine application functionality and ensure solutions meet user expectations.
- Conduct requirement workshops, client training, and user acceptance testing (UAT).
Support, Troubleshooting and Maintenance
- Troubleshoot and resolve system configuration issues, workflow failures, or data inconsistencies.
- Create and maintain documentation for solution configuration, architecture, and user support.
- Stay current on Microsoft Power Platform updates, features, and emerging trends to continuously enhance solution quality.
Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- 2+ years of hands-on experience with Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI).
- Strong understanding of Model-Driven Apps, Dataverse, and data relationships.
- Proficiency in configuring security roles, permissions, and environment governance.
- Exposure and/or knowledge of the fundamentals in one or more of the following technical areas — JavaScript, C#, HTML, or REST APIs. The ideal candidate demonstrates a strong curiosity and willingness to learn technical concepts and apply them to real-world business applications. Some experience with SQL and structuring data is preferred.
- Ability to gather and translate complex business requirements into functional solutions and workflow designs.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical mindset with attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with clients, lead discussions, and translate business goals into technical solutions. Self-motivated, organized, and able to manage multiple project tasks.
- Commitment to continuous learning and staying up to date with Microsoft Power Platform advancements.
Education And Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Technology, or a related field preferred.
- 2–4 years of experience in a Power Platform, application consulting, or solution implementation role.
- Proven experience delivering production-ready Power Platform solutions using Model-Driven Apps and Power Automate.
- Experience with JavaScript scripting, data modeling, and API integrations is considered a strong asset.
- Microsoft Certifications (PL-200, PL-400, or PL-600) are highly desirable.
