Position Title: Group Fitness Instructor

Location: Chilliwack Landing Leisure Centre - 9145 Corbould St, Chilliwack, BC V2P 4A6

Terms: Part-Time, Permanent

Hours: 2 - 10 Hours Per Week

Shift: Shifts times vary between mornings, afternoons, and evenings.

Start Date: As soon as possible

Salary: $30.54 per hour

Reports To: Supervisor, Health and Fitness

As a YMCA Group Fitness Instructor, you will play a key role in creating a positive and inclusive environment where members feel supported, motivated, and inspired. You’ll bring energy, enthusiasm, and a commitment to excellent customer service to every class and interaction.

Major Responsibilities**-** in this position, you will**:**

  • Instruct Group Fitness classes
  • Assist with the development and implementation of group fitness program plans
  • Assist members with their fitness programs in a positive and professional manner
  • Ensures the safety of all members, participants and staff by following YMCA standards, policies and procedures
  • Perform member orientations to the fitness facility
  • Assist with training new volunteers/staff in procedures and practices
  • Build meaningful relationships through daily interaction with YMCA members, visitors, and colleagues
  • Perform all mandatory administration duties and records
  • Clean all prescribed areas based on infection prevention protocols including fitness and high touch areas

Qualification**-you bring:**

  • Must be at least 19 years of age
  • Current YMCA Group fitness or equivalent certificate
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C & AED certificate
  • Current YMCA Fitness - individual Conditioning Level 2 or equivalent
  • Older adult certifications are an asset
  • Guidance and/or Nutrition an asset
  • Successful candidate will be required to provide 3 satisfactory references
  • Successful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Record check with a Vulnerable sector search issued no later than six (6) months preceding the start date.
