The purpose of the role

The incumbent will be responsible for coordinating the movement and the tracking/tracing of all shipments from our warehouse in Canada to our US stores, this in accordance with the organizational policies and procedures ensuring to comply with relevant US laws and regulations.

Key responsibilities

  • Maintain and respect the standards, procedures, laws and regulations for all shipments related to the direct export process as well as the cross-trade process.
  • Build and maintain positive business relationships with our Customs broker, Freight forwarder, etc.
  • Coordinate exports from Montreal to US stores including submitting export documentation to our Customs broker.
  • Responsible for producing all commercial documents required to clear goods into US and making sure that they are received in a timely matter for pre customs clearance (commercial invoice, packing list, waybill, MID list, certificate of origin, etc.), ensure the documentation is complaint with customs regulations and requirements.
  • Assign HTS codes to La Vie en Rose products and maintain an accurate HTS tariff codes data base.
  • Proceed with regular internal audits of entry summaries (Form 7501).
  • Research continuously changes in legal requirements and assessing impact on current procedures.
  • Identify whether other Government agency requirements are applicable to La Vie en Rose products.
  • Ensure constant communication with various internal departments at the Head Office in regard to the follow up and movement of merchandise and non-merchandise.
  • Initiate effective and constructive solutions to problems and challenges presented at the shipping and delivery level.
  • Conduct frequent verifications to make sure all information is up to date in our systems before generating commercial documents.

Requirements

  • College degree (or equivalent) in transport / logistics.
  • Extensive knowledge of US import regulations.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant export experience.
  • English and French (written and spoken, this person will speak to stakeholders across Canada).
  • Import knowledge is an asset.
  • Experience with various order management systems. Good knowledge of MS Office: Excel and Outlook.
