Library Clerk - SE
About the role
The City of Côte Saint-Luc is seeking dynamic individuals to join its team. We take pride in delivering the highest quality of services to our residents.
We are currently looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic Library Clerk who is passionate about public service and eager to make a difference in our community by contributing to the improvement of library services.
Work schedule
This is a part-time position of 21 hours per week , consisting of two evening shifts (from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.) and one daytime shift (from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.) .
Please note that one of these shifts will take place on the weekend .
Main responsibilities

Register patrons for memberships, prepare materials and documentation, and handle the procedures for borrowing and returning library and audiovisual materials.

Sort and shelve books, magazines, films, records, etc.; organize documents and files; monitor reading areas.

Provide patrons with basic information on topics such as membership and borrowing policies, catalog navigation, use of materials, and layout of the library; refer complex issues, disputes, or complaints to a supervisor.

Lead, upon request, activities for adults or children.

Stamp documents and affix ex-libris, pockets, labels, and call numbers.

Consult library catalogs to verify the availability of certain materials; record requests for documentation.

Perform minor repairs on library materials and maintain audiovisual equipment; organize and prepare printed materials for binding.

Occasionally collect payments for overdue fines, paid collections, etc.

Verify the accuracy of time sheets for auxiliary staff.

Compile numerical data for statistical purposes.

Carry out clerical tasks, typing, and photocopying.

Use various office equipment as needed, using appropriate software or programs.

Perform any other related duties.

Required Qualifications
- High school diploma (secondary school diploma).
- At least one (1) year of relevant experience.
- Bilingualism (French and English), spoken and written.
- Ability to carry out basic manual and clerical tasks.
- Strong interpersonal skills; tact, courtesy, and customer service mindset.
- Good communication skills and the ability to understand the needs of library users.
Note
You may be required to take a written competency test in French and English.
