About the role
The Senior Accountant for Treasury and Financial reporting will assist with accounting for investments, oversee the company's HST/GST filings and day-to-day banking responsibilities. This role is responsible for ensuring the timely preparation of periodic financial statements, participating in the analysis of financial information, engaging in the financial forecasting process, ensuring adherence to proper internal controls, and contributing to the development or enhancement of accounting processes and policies.

Primary Responsibilities

Plan, set up, and administer accounting systems; prepare accurate financial information

Prepare financial analysis including financial statements for TDC and Asphalt divisions.

Develop or enhance tools to monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for day-to-day operational decision-making

Develop and maintain reporting and internal control procedures
Treasury & Investment Focus

Monthly/ Annual preparation of financial statements for Investments.

Strengthen Monthly investment analysis reporting.
-
Assist in quarterly bank covenant reporting.
-
Own and improve Weekly cash position reporting.
Additional Accounting Support
-
Support intercompany reconciliations (including AP/AR and due to/due from as applicable), ensuring timely investigation and resolution of variances

Support annual external audit activities (working papers, reconciliations, and other requested support)

Assist with regular compliance matters as required

Coach and train other accountants or administrative clerks as needed
Working Conditions
-
Standard office environment. Overtime hours may be required during month-end or year-end processing
Education and Experience
-
Knowledge of finance, accounting, and inventory control principles, including GAAP
-
Knowledge of financial/accounting software applications (SAP is an asset)
-
Strong analytical skills with the ability to prepare financial reports, statements, and projections

Willingness to work a flexible schedule
-
CPA candidates or designates preferred
-
Strong ability to dig into systems and workflows to understand underlying processes that drive data and translate findings into process/control improvements, proficiency in excel is ideal.
Compensation Information
- The expected range for this position is $70,000 - $110,000. Placement within the range is dependant on a variety of factors including qualifications and experience.
