About the role

RECE After School Educator
Permanent, Part-time

For over 35 years, Umbrella Family and Child Centres of Hamilton has been dedicated to offering high-quality programs for young children and their families. We operate full-day early learning and childcare centres for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers, along with before and after school extended-day programs for kindergarten and school-aged children at over 27 locations across the Greater Hamilton Area.

Location: Cathy Wever, 160 Wentworth St. N, Hamilton ON L8L 5V7
Total Weekly Hours: 20.25 hours per week
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 2:15pm - 6:00pm
Pay Rate (per Collective Agreement, includes wage grants):

  • RECE: $27.94per hour

Who We’re Looking For

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 1-year experience working directly with children or in a childcare setting.
  • Diploma in Early Childhood Education (ECE)

Certifications:

  • Active registration and good standing with the College of ECE
  • Standard First Aid with CPR Level C
  • Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Police Check
  • Proof of up-to-date immunizations (TB, Tetanus, MMR)

Skills & Knowledge:

  • Familiarity with How Does Learning Happen? (an asset)
  • Strong understanding of child development and age-appropriate activities.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.

  • Flexibility and adaptability to changing circumstances.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and implement activities to support children’s cognitive, physical, social, and emotional development.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of children at all times.
  • Maintain an engaging and welcoming environment for children and families.
  • Complete documentation and meet Ministry of Education requirements.
  • Collaborate with Hamilton Wentworth District School Board faculty.
