About the role
Responsible for a wide range of Superintendent duties including organizing, scheduling, assigning and coordination of work for the electrical crew. This position offers a blend of office-based responsibilities and hands-on field support, involving coordination with customers.
Qualifications:
- Red Seal Journeyperson Electrician certification.
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with air brake endorsement and a clean abstract
- Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical focusing on traffic signals and related systems.
- Minimum 2 years of supervisory/leadership experience.
- Experience preparing or managing traffic management plans, job hazard assessments, and Ministry of Transportation (MOTT), or equivalent agencies, submissions.
- Proven ability to organize crews, materials, equipment, and vehicles efficiently for multiple work sites.
- Strong understanding of workplace safety programs and commitment to promoting a safety-first culture.
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and other scheduling or maintenance management software.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and organizational skills.
- Problem-solving mindset with the ability to adapt to changing priorities and field conditions.
- Ability and willingness to work overtime, weekends.
- Physically capable of performing heavy physical labour and working in outdoor environments and in varying weather conditions.
Job Duties, but not limited to:
- Manage and schedule ongoing corrective and preventative maintenance work.
- Complete job hazard assessments and coordinate comprehensive traffic management plans for submission to MOTT/customers.
- Assist with estimating labour, equipment, and materials for projects and service requests.
- Conduct weekly crew talks and daily safety reviews to ensure alignment and safe operations.
- Perform periodic crew safety inspections and ensure all work is completed to company and regulatory standards.
- Participate in the company’s safety program, inspections, and investigations as required.
- Approve crew timesheets and review daily FLHAs.
- Oversee and assist with traffic control setups, coordinating loop cutting, and civil work coordination.
- Work with Fleet to track, schedule, and manage vehicle maintenance and inspections.
- Ensure equipment readiness and maintenance.
- Support patrols, service panel maintenance, conflict monitor changes, and emergency response.
- Ensure vehicles are winter-ready, including appropriate tires, chains, and staff winter training.
- Support field work when required or as time permits.
