About the role
Main Responsibilities
- Staff assignments, patient flow, acting as a role model, clinical resource and advocate for nursing staff.
- Provide frontline nursing care as required.
- Lead promotion of quality patient care and implementation of operational priorities.
- Provide solutions for complex health care issues at all levels with patients, interprofessional teams, administrators and policy makers.
- Play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of an accredited nursing education program.
- Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA).
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications
- CNA certification in Critical Care required.
- Minimum 5 years in current Critical Care nursing including current experience with or extensive charge experience.
- Expert knowledge of unit based Advanced Competencies.
- Recent extensive experience in Cardiac/Intensive Care.
- Demonstrated Advanced Leadership and Communication skills, including the ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships.
- Competence in relevant technical nursing skills and a willingness to learn new skills as required.
- Demonstrated ongoing responsibility for maintaining own continuing competence through professional development activities.
- Excellent computer skills.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the job.
Preferred Qualifications
- Baccalaureate degree required, Masters preferred.
