Distribution Engineer (Management)
North Bay Hydro Distribution Limited (NBHDL) is seeking a skilled and motivated Distribution Engineer to join our management team. Reporting to the VP of Engineering and Operations, this position plays a key leadership role in planning, designing, and modernizing our electrical distribution system. The successful candidate will bring strong technical expertise, project management capability, and strategic thinking to ensure reliable, efficient, and sustainable service delivery to our community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, design, and oversee distribution system upgrades, expansions, and maintenance projects.
- Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary team of engineers, technicians, and support staff.
- Ensure compliance with Ontario Regulation 22/04, the Distribution Safety Code, and OEB/IESO requirements.
- Enhance the utility’s asset management program and develop the five-year infrastructure renewal plan.
- Support integration of distributed energy resources (DERs), smart grid technologies, and automation initiatives.
- Monitor and report on system reliability metrics (SAIDI, SAIFI, CAIDI) and contribute to regulatory filings.
- Manage capital and operating budgets for Engineering activities.
- Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and innovation.
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.

Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario or eligible for licensing

Minimum of 7 years’ experience in utility distribution system design, planning, or operations.

Strong leadership, communication, and project management skills (PMP designation an asset).

Proficiency with CYME, AutoCAD, SPIDAcalc, GIS, and Microsoft 365.

Knowledge of CSA standards (C22.3 No. 1, No. 7), Ontario Regulation 22/04, and OEB Distribution System Code.

Valid Ontario Class G driver’s licence.
