Evening Cook
Job Overview
Create & serve delicious meals for guests for dinner, serve desserts, safely store leftovers and create late plates, clean and prepare kitchen, coolers and spaces for next day?s activities
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily operations of evening kitchen operations, including meal preparation, service and cleanup
- Provide delicious well-balanced homestyle meals for 30-50 people
- Weekly menu plans which effectively maximize kitchen inventory
- Assist customers with inquiries, ensuring a high level of satisfaction
- Maintain paper and/or electronic records of daily evening operations
- Collaborate with team members to achieve departmental goals
- Monitor inventory levels and provide updates to manager for re-ordering supplies as necessary
- Provide overflow assistance as required for daytime and night operations
- Other duties as assigned by manager
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 2 years of experience in industrial cooking and food service facility
- Proven ability to work in a high-paced, multi-tasking environment as an effective part of a team
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Must have valid Foodsafe Level 1 or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with catering, dessert and baking finishing, menu planning and nutrition planning
- Fluency in written and spoken English
- Knowledge of food safety protocols, safe work procedures
- Familiarity with electronic ordering and record keeping systems or willingness to learn house systems
Skills and Abilities
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Problem-solving skills and critical thinking
- Customer service and interpersonal skills
Work Environment
You will be working in a busy, commercial kitchen with a variety of cooking, food preparation and storage equipment. Occasional additional work environments include:
- 3rd party catering locations
- Additional cooking/service locations as assigned, including but not limited to other commercial kitchens, food trucks, remote food service locations
- Exposure to noise, high and low temperatures, high-temperature cooking devices
- Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks safely and simultaneously
Compensation & Benefits
- $250 - 280 per day (10-11.5 hour shift)
