Position Summary:
This position is committed to providing World Class Customer Service to all patrons attending events at the Tribute Communities Centre. Members of the Events Team are often the first point of contact for guests and as such must always exhibit a professional and courteous demeanor.
This role pays an hourly rate of $17.20-$17.80 CAD (per CBA).
Benefits as per the union agreement.
This position will remain open until November 21, 2025.
About the Venue:
The Tribute Communities Centre is Durham Region's premier sports and live entertainment facility and is managed by Oak View Group. We are home to the Oshawa Generals of the Ontario Hockey League and host a myriad of other events including concerts, ice skating, family shows, trade shows, convocations, and more.
Responsibilities:
- Greet all Guests in a welcoming and friendly manner
- Provide excellent customer service to all patrons and employees
- Ensure that all building access points are properly secured when necessary.
- Perform routine walks through your assigned area of the property to assess and address any concerns.
- Respond promptly to emergency situations or disturbances, ensuring swift resolution.
- Maintain positive, professional interactions with staff, guests, and management at all levels.
- Safeguard the well-being of individuals on the property by addressing any issues proactively.
- Handle any disruptive individuals appropriately, with a focus on conflict resolution and positive outcomes.
- Work independently and use judgment to assess situations and respond accordingly.
- Operate a ticket scanner and follow ticket scanning protocol as outlined in team training
- Act as ambassador for OVG
- Retrieve and verify Guest tickets, as required
- Direct Fans with special needs/requests to Guest Services
- Support all departments with guest related escalations as required
- Adhere to all OVG service standards and policies, including Health and Safety and AODA act
- Work in compliance with the provisions of the Occupational health and Safety Act
- Able to pay close attention to detail
- Always Work with enthusiasm and professionalism
- Perform any additional tasks as assigned
Qualifications:
- Ontario Smart Serve Certification Required (or be willing to obtain if hired and prior to first shift)
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- 6 months to 1 year of experience in a similar environment, particularly in customer-facing roles.
- Knowledge of Event Services and affiliated roles & responsibilities
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and make sound decisions.
- Strong customer service skills and professional demeanor.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Capable of working a flexible schedule and extended hours, including but not limited to working early mornings, nights, weekends and holidays in addition to traditional business hours
- Professional presentation, appearance, and work ethic.
- Comfort with using communication tools like two-way radios.
- Ability to interact effectively with guests, staff, and emergency personnel when necessary
- Experience in event related role is an asset
- Must be accurate and detail oriented
- Must be physically fit to perform all essential duties/requirements associated with this job
- Strong knowledge of Alcohol Control Policies in event driven industry is an asset
- Familiarity with the City of Oshawa and local attractions an asset
