The Opportunity
Are you ready to launch your career as an Electrical Designer (Engineer-in-Training) in a brand-new Vancouver office that combines a startup mindset with the strength of an established, Canada-wide organization?
BPA is expanding, and our new Vancouver office offers a unique opportunity to be part of building something from the ground up—helping shape a local team and culture—while benefiting from the resources, technical depth, and reputation of a firm with offices across Canada. You’ll contribute to a diverse portfolio of institutional projects in a collaborative, fast-paced, and growth-oriented environment.
In this role, you’ll experience accelerated professional development through hands-on involvement in projects and direct supervision by our Electrical Director, Michael O'Keeffe. You’ll take on meaningful responsibilities early in your career, gain exposure to a broad range of technical challenges, and develop the skills and confidence needed to build a strong foundation for long-term success in the building engineering industry.

Your Main Responsibilities
Prepare CAD and/or Revit drawings, under the supervision of senior staff. Support the design and layout of electrical systems, including lighting, power, distribution, fire alarm, and communication systems. Perform load calculations and assist in developing panel schedules, single line diagrams, and other technical documents. Coordinate with other disciplines (mechanical, structural, architectural) to ensure cohesive design integration. Review shop drawings and assist in preparing responses to RFIs (Requests for Information). Participate in site visits and assist with field reviews and construction inspections. Assist in the preparation of documentation for permit and tender submissions. Keep up-to-date with applicable codes and standards such as the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) and local building regulations. Your Profile
Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology. Registered as an E.I.T. under the EGBC or aspirations in becoming and E.I.T (Engineers & Geoscientists British Columbia). 1 to 3 years of relevant experience in electrical design, ideally for buildings Experience with AutoCAD is required; familiarity with Revit MEP is considered a strong asset Any experience in consulting engineering, or other relevant experience is an asset, including internships Basic understanding of electrical systems in building (lighting, power, life safety) Proficiency in AutoCAD Strong Attention to detail and organization skills Willingness to learn and take direction from the senior staff Good written and verbal communications
