The Saskatchewan Public Service Commission (PSC) is the central human resource agency for the Government of Saskatchewan. The Human Resource Service Centre (HRSC) provides payroll, human resource and benefits administration services to client ministries and several agencies, boards and commissions.

The Opportunity

The HRSC is seeking client-focused, analytical, resourceful, organized and detail-oriented human resource benefits professionals to join us as Benefit Services Specialists on the Benefit Services Team. As a dedicated team member, you will work collaboratively with human resource, benefit, and payroll services colleagues to ensure the accurate processing of Government-wide employee benefits administration.

Typically, the successful candidate will have experience in:

  • Provide expert-level information and case administration to clients on a variety of benefit-related transactions such as leaves of absence, retirement, disability claim processing, and employee or dependent deaths;
  • Review and process a variety of benefit alerts to ensure employee benefits are updated and accurate;
  • Research loss of benefits issues and process as appropriate in a Human Resource Information System to reinstate employee benefits; and,
  • Calculate group life and disability premiums and pension arrears.

The successful candidate will have:

  • The ability to examine, understand and apply legislation, policy, plan documentation and procedures to benefit related issues;
  • The ability to understand and apply a variety of mathematical benefit calculations such as pension arrears, life insurance and disability premiums;
  • The ability to continuously plan, prioritize and organize a large volume of work taking into consideration strict immovable deadlines, frequent interruptions, and conflicting and/or changing priorities;
  • The ability to identify and assess information relevant to a problem, consider a variety of options available, and determine and implement an appropriate course of action;
  • The ability to constructively lead, influence and encourage others to meet goals and to build productive, positive work relationships;
  • The ability to listen actively and objectively and ask relevant questions in order to understand and provide clear, concise information verbally and/or in writing;
  • The ability to work independently and as a contributing team member in order to achieve common goals and objectives as well as contribute to a positive work environment and build cooperative working relationships; and,
  • Knowledge of benefit plan administration and application to relevant HR legislation, policies and programs.
