Junior Full-Stack Software Developer (AI Products)
About the role
Location: Toronto, Ontario (hybrid) Employment type: Full-time Compensation: CAD $68,000 base salary per year
15Rock builds AI research software for advisory, investment, corporate strategy, and climate teams. Our products turn filings, transcripts, PDFs, private data, and client methodologies into source-linked shortlists, Value Scans, benchmarks, and client-ready reports. The work has to hold up in front of partners, clients, investment committees, and boards, so every important claim needs evidence behind it.
We’re looking for a junior developer who wants to build real products used by real client teams. This is not a prompt-engineering-only job. You’ll work across interfaces, APIs, databases, AI integrations, and tests. You’ll get scoped problems, code review, and support, but you’ll also be expected to take ownership of your work and follow it through to production.
What you’ll work on
Build and improve product features across our frontend and backend Create clear, responsive interfaces for research, review, delivery, and analytics workflows Develop APIs, data models, integrations, and background jobs Connect products to external data sources, search services, and language-model APIs Improve citation quality, source traceability, validation, and human-review workflows Write unit, integration, and end-to-end tests Investigate production issues using logs and reproducible test cases Help strengthen authentication, permissions, and handling of sensitive client information Turn feedback from product, delivery, and client teams into working software Our current stack We work primarily with: TypeScript, React, and Next.js Python and FastAPI PostgreSQL and SQLAlchemy GCP, Cloud Run, Railway, and Vercel Search and language-model APIs pytest, Vitest, and Playwright GitHub and automated CI/CD Strong fundamentals in either TypeScript/React or Python, along with a willingness to work across the stack, matter more.
What we’re looking for
Approximately 1+ years of professional development experience, including co-op or internship experience A project, internship, open-source contribution, or job where you shipped working software Comfort with Git, APIs, basic SQL, debugging, and automated tests The ability to break a problem into smaller steps and ask for help before getting stuck Clear written and verbal communication Care for correctness, privacy, and the details users notice Good judgment when using AI coding tools: generated code still needs to be understood, tested, and owned A computer science degree is welcome but not required. We care more about what you have built, how you think, and whether you can learn.
Helpful, but not required
Experience with any of the following would be useful: AI applications, retrieval, search, evaluations, or citation systems Cloud deployments and production monitoring Data pipelines or third-party API integrations B2B workflow, analytics, or research products Why join 15Rock You’ll work on software where reliability and evidence matter. You’ll see direct feedback from the people using what you build, and you won’t spend your first year isolated on a toy project. We’re a small team, so you’ll get exposure to product decisions, client problems, architecture, testing, and deployment. You’ll have room to grow without being expected to arrive as a senior developer.
