About the role
We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Welder/Fitter to join our production team. Reporting to the Production Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for the assembly, fitting, and fabrication of components in accordance with engineering drawings and quality standards. This is a hands-on role suited for a self-motivated trade professional with a strong background in fitting and manufacturing environments.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and work orders to complete assembly and fitting tasks
- Fit, assemble, and install structural and mechanical components to precise tolerances
- Measure, mark, cut, drill, grind, and shape materials using hand and power tools
- Perform tack welding or work alongside welders to prepare and position parts for final welding
- Inspect completed work to ensure conformance with specifications and quality standards
- Identify and report defects, non-conformances, or safety concerns to the Production Manager
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in compliance with company and regulatory standards
- Collaborate with the production, quality, and engineering teams to meet daily output targets
- Assist in the training and mentorship of junior production employees as needed
- Complete all required documentation, including production logs and inspection records
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a fitting, fabrication, or structural assembly role
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and assembly specifications
- Proficiency with measuring instruments (calipers, squares, tape measures, levels)
- Hands-on experience with hand tools, power tools, and fabrication equipment
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to quality and precision
- Knowledge of workplace health and safety practices (OHSA compliance)
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and work in a shop environment
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in a manufacturing or industrial fabrication environment
- Familiarity with welding processes
- Forklift or overhead crane operator certification
Pay: $25.00-$29.00 per hour
