Salary: The salary range for this position is CAD $32.84/Hr. - CAD $41.35/Hr.
Summary:
As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at Providence Health Care, you’ll provide compassionate, person-centered care to patients or residents in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team. Reporting to the Care Manager, you’ll assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care, support patients’ physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being, and advocate for their needs. Working within your scope of practice, you’ll also contribute to care plans, participate in care conferences, mentor new staff, and ensure safe, high-quality care aligned with PHC’s mission and values.
What You Bring:
Education:
- Graduation from a recognized program for Practical Nurses or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
- Registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing LPN registrant
- Current basic cardiac life support certification
Skills & Abilities:
- Demonstrated knowledge and ability to perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) procedures appropriate for the area of service
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position
- Ability to apply decision making and analytical skills
- Ability to role model conflict resolution strategies
- Ability to prioritize and organize work
- Ability to teach and identify patient/resident learning needs

Your Day to Day:
- Provide safe and respectful nursing care, adhering to established policies, individualized care plans, and priorities
- Conduct thorough assessments, monitor signs/symptoms, and communicate with the RN/RPN as needed
- Prepare patients for procedures, transfers, and admissions, coordinating with the interdisciplinary team
- Administer medications per protocol, monitor effects, and maintain communication with the team
- Utilize evidence-based resources to stay updated on nursing practices
- Respond to incidents such as codes, injuries, spills, and alarms, following procedures
- Assist with staff orientation, demonstrating procedures and providing support
- Address patient/resident and family learning needs, provide educational materials, and make referrals
- Attend care planning meetings, provide input, and advocate for patients/residents
- Collaborate with the team to develop and evaluate individualized care plans
- Assist with discharge planning based on patient status and external supports
- Operate and clean equipment, report malfunctions, and handle hazardous materials. Perform clerical duties such as answering phones, faxing, and maintaining records
About Access Services/Float Pool:
Our Float Pool nurses provide dynamic support across multiple units, including Medicine and Surgery, with occasional opportunities to work in Renal and Cardiac. Nurses rotate between units and never work two consecutive shifts in the same area, ensuring variety and a broad skillset.
