About the role

In this exciting position with United Way Alberta Capital Region’s Social Impact team you are responsible for managing initiatives supporting children and youth including but not limited to; the ‘All in For Youth’ (AIFY) initiative by facilitating stakeholder-created, collaborative solutions to implement the initiative and bringing together programs and services to help socially vulnerable students achieve their best. You will play a key role in relationship building, leading, and connecting, and ensuring collaboration between multiple initiative stakeholders. This position reports to the Director, Strategic Initiatives. This is a parental leave coverage position, starting in October 2025 and continuing through May 2027.

The Day to Day:

  • Leads initiatives by facilitating stakeholder-created and collaborative solutions to bring together programs and services to help socially vulnerable students achieve their best.
  • Chairs committees, ensuring committee effectiveness by developing agendas, facilitating meetings, taking minutes, following up on action items, managing group dynamics, facilitating problem solving and decision making, and ensuring information is shared between teams and committees.
  • Attends meetings with school principals and agency managers.
  • Supports coordinated fundraising and communication activities including conducting school tours with potential and current funders, presenting to stakeholders, responding to requests for information, supporting the development of funding proposals, and writing follow up reports for funders.
  • Understands the Education Ecosystem and makes connections to our work for meaningful impact.
  • Manages progress of programs by ensuring the coordination of work to meet scheduled timelines; disseminating new information such as evaluation reports, community trends, changing environments to stakeholders; and developing and maintaining collaborative relationships with partners and stakeholders.
  • Develops, allocates, and monitors the budget for the initiative.
  • Participates as an active member of the Out of School Time Steering Committee, Fundraising Committee, and Gathering in support of summer and after-school programming.
  • Attends meetings, collaborates with partners, reviews and approves applications for funding, and completes end-of-program reporting as needed.

About you:

You are eager to apply your facilitating, leadership, collaborative, interpersonal and relationship management skills to our Social Impact team to help ensure no one in our community is left behind.

You have solid knowledge and experience in areas of program management and evaluation; stakeholder relations; and educational support programs, agencies/organizations, and networks in the community.

You are highly organized with the ability to set priorities and create action plans to complete work and the ability to build engaging relationships with internal and external stakeholders through trust, teamwork, and direct communications.

You have a can-do attitude, are outcomes driven, and approach situations with empathy and collaboration. Thinking creatively, developing innovative ideas, and juggling multiple tasks and priorities is how you thrive. You love operating in a digital environment and are proficient with MS Office (we use Office 365 - MS Teams, SharePoint) and enjoy learning and using new technology.

You have an undergraduate degree in Business, Social Sciences, Humanities or related field plus a minimum of four to six years of relevant experience. A combination of education and experience will be considered.
