About the role

The focus of the RCM is resident-centered care, where they play an essential role in identifying care goals, aligning resources, and facilitating team building between residents, families, and staff. By fostering a collaborative environment, the RCM helps ensure that the needs of the residents are met while also supporting staff development. The responsibilities of this position are focused around four critical aspects of care and service: people and teams, access and flow, quality and safety, and efficiency and resources. The RCM leads in promoting an environment that maximizes resident’s dignity, independent, privacy, freedom of choice and decision making, while ensuring adherence to clinical standards and required organizational practices. They provide valuable input into preadmission, admission and on-going plans for residents and their families. The RCM is also responsible for conducting comprehensive RAI/MDS assessments at the time of resident admission and regularly thereafter, ensuring that care plans remain aligned with evolving needs. Additionally, they closely monitor the acuity levels of the resident population to ensure that care is adjusted appropriately, and resources are allocated effectively. The RCM holds a direct supervisory role over unionized staff within the unit(s), manages attendance issues, completes annual performance appraisals, and works in a professional manner with union representatives to ensure a positive work environment. By focusing on these areas, the RCM contributes to the efficient functioning of the unit and the delivery of high-quality, resident-centered care. This position is non-unionized.
