Job Overview Responsible to manage and own the day-to-day demand planning activities to a given portfolio to predict unconstrained future product demand. Utilize forecasting tools like Anaplan and leverage cross-functional relationships to gather timely inputs and update a consensus driven on-going forecast.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for all demand planning activities needed to generate a SKU based consensus forecast for rolling 18 months period, which become the basis for operating plans and financial projections.
- Process owner for the demand planning activities below:
- Cleanse and prepare historical sales and seasonality data o Perform the Outlier correction process.
- Conduct Product Segmentation based on product characteristics such as sales volume, predictability, and seasonality.
- Use Anaplan forecasting engine to select a best-fit statistical method (review multiple demand signals and develop a consensus forecast that will support the downstream supply planning and execution processes). for the level of detail needed (SKU – Customer – Channel)
- Develop a statistical demand forecasting using Anaplan (demand planning software) to create a baseline plan for each SKU.
- Gather information from product teams about new launches and discontinuation of products (New Product Introduction and Product End of Life Forecasting)
- Gather market intelligence with sales and marketing teams about the timing of price changes, marketing campaigns and promotions that could affect demand.
- Effectively use Anaplan forecast Alerts and exceptions to drive business discussions and align on actions
- Become an expert on Anaplan with the ability to build and edit models
- Generate consensus forecast and validate / get buy-in with key stakeholders – run the monthly Demand Review/Consensus Meeting
- Create Standard Operation Procedures (SOP’s) for demand planning processes
- Responsible for achieving key KPIs:
- Forecast Accuracy (SKU – Customer – Channel)
- MAPE (Mean absolute percentage error) and Forecast Bias o Forecast Value Add Reporting
- Document all assumptions and overrides during development of consensus forecast
- Document and present monthly results to leadership and key stakeholders
- Monitor demand plan error at all levels of the process and develop continuous improvement actions to improve accuracy
The Recipe For Success
- Completion of University degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business or a related field
- 3-5 years of proven experience in Planning, S&OP, or Operations function, preferably within the consumer goods industry
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Competency in statistical data analysis and modeling.
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written; strong listening skills)
- Knowledge on ERPs and/or demand planning systems .
- Strong ability to influence stakeholders and manage conflict.
- Ability to prioritize demands and shift between conflicting priorities in a fast-paced work environment.
- Must possess the financial acumen to manage, measure, and improve operational effectiveness and profitability
- Working knowledge of Agile methodology is an asset
- Strong computer systems (MS Office, Excel, Access, ERP systems)
- Working Knowledge of Lean/Continuous Improvement experience is an asset
