This opportunity is a12 month contract position, with anestimated end date of April 2027. Please note that contract rolesdo not include additional monetary benefits or health care coverage.

Hybrid

We offer a hybrid work model designed to give you the best of both worlds—flexibility and meaningful in-person connection. You’ll spend three days a week with us at ourWindsor office (2072 Riverside Drive E.), where you can collaborate, learn, and feel part of a supportive community, while still enjoying the freedom to work remotely on other days.

The**salary for this role is $50,000 - $54,000.**Base salaries are determined during our interview process, by assessing a candidate’s experience, skills against internal peers and against the scope and responsibilities of the position.

Position Summary:

Working as a member of the North America Accounting Process Accounting Team. The main responsibility is to process and pay invoices on behalf of the business in the most accurate, efficient, effective manner ensuring all internal controls are met.

What you will do

  • Ensure payment requests have been properly approved by an authorized person and/or matched to the purchase order system.
  • Invoices are entered accurately and timely, ensuring compliance with internal controls.
  • Reconciliation of vendor accounts to the accounts payable sub ledger as required.
  • Timely investigation and documentation of outstanding amounts.
  • Handling of internal and external customer inquiries in a positive, timely manner.
  • Identify, action and resolve any aging outstanding invoices not being actioned.
  • Review of peer invoices entered in the accounting system.
  • Ensuring proper record retention of vendor invoices.
  • Ad hoc requests, as assigned.
  • An active Team Member in driving change to achieve the Key Performance Indicator targets.
  • OHSA - Ensure compliance of Occupational Health & Safety Act (section 25, 26, 27, and 28) per Hiram Walker & Son’s Ltd Policy- Management-Supervision-Worker Safety Responsibilities.

What you bring

  • Solid working knowledge of Enterprise One, Microsoft Office and SharePoint
  • 2-4 years’ experience in a similar environment.
  • Ability to meet deadlines as overtime is required at month end.
  • Must have a strong and demonstrable customer service ethic.
  • Must be able to thrive in and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and challenging the status quo.
  • Must be able to deliver high quality results to a strict timetable.
  • Able to work well in a team environment.
  • Speed and accuracy of data entry is essential due to the extensive data entry required.
  • General accounting background is an asset

Reporting & Analysis

  • Analyses basic data in a reliable manner
  • Obtains accurate information, controls data, and produces timely basic financial reports
  • Uses reporting tools for basic data extraction and analysis
  • Comments main financial ratios and statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flows) and provides basic variance analysis
  • Communicates findings in an articulate manner

Tax Management:

  • Demonstrates knowledge of local tax concepts and explains basic concepts to others
  • Analyses tax related data to control tax compliance
  • Understands the impacts and inter-relations of accounting principles and tax concepts

Risk Management & Internal Control:

  • Understands the key concepts of risk management (identification, assessment including frameworks, mitigation)
  • Identifies basic business risks related to his/her job
  • Identifies inconsistency in basic internal controls (e.g.: accountability) of his/her scope
  • Understands and applies internal control procedures and basic control processes (e.g.: reconciliation, segregation of tasks) in his/her scope

Process & Information Systems

  • Masters advanced functionalities of systems and understands their capabilities & interactions
  • Analyzes systems, workflows and processes current capabilities and identifies opportunities for their improvement (speed and quality)
  • Explains and trains colleagues on how to use systems and follow processes
  • Networks with co-users of systems and processes in order to identify and share best practices

Project Management:

  • Assists a project manager with project management basics (task list, meetings, write wrap-up report …)
  • Coordinates information flows between project participants in a few departments
  • Reports project progress with accuracy
  • Understands what is at stake in the project (risks and opportunities)

  • Initiates and/or improves positive working relationships and interactions within the team
