The Ministry of Highways is seeking a highly motivated individual with excellent interpersonal and leadership skills to join the NW Construction Delivery team of the Provincial Construction Branch to work in Saskatoon or Regina for a 12-month term.
Reporting to the Director, Construction Delivery as a Senior Project Manager, you will be responsible for directing, managing and administering Ministry's construction projects within the province. Work will focus on managing construction delivery by internal resources and commissioning consultants to administer construction projects, and liaising with the consultants throughout the commissioned projects. Work will also include providing direction, support and mentoring for the Construction Delivery Project Managers and their teams and the provision of technical expertise related to contract management, reports, budget estimates, road designs, constructability and the provision of engineering services.
The successful candidate will represent or participate on behalf of the unit in the resolution of issues raised by private individuals, public agencies and external stakeholders. As a Senior Project Manager, you will support and act on behalf of the Construction Delivery Director at meetings, initiate changes in Ministry policies, specifications and procedures and lead or participate in Ministry task forces.
To qualify for the Senior Project Manager position, you must be registered as a Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS) or possess an equivalent designation, with several years of extensive experience and knowledge of project management, asset management, maintenance and preservation, operations, design, construction, contract administration and contract law. A limited licence from APEGS to practice Highway Design and Construction will be considered an equivalent qualification.
The ideal candidate will bring creative and innovative solutions to complex issues. The Senior Project Manager will apply professional engineering concepts, principles, practices and standards used in the planning, design, construction and maintenance of the provincial highways, other transportation infrastructure and associated works to ensure the effective delivery of the Ministry's capital and major preservation programs. This position will work closely with other units and branches in the province such as Design, Project Support Office, Planning, Policy, Network Planning, Operation and Maintenance.
