TEMPORARY- FULL TIME AND PART TIME - ASAP TO JUNE 30, 2026 The Burnaby School District is on the traditional territory of the Coast Salish Nations of Musqueam, Tsleil-Waututh and Squamish.

The Burnaby School District is the fourth largest in BC. The District operates 41 elementary and 8 secondary schools, including a range of district and provincial resource programs. The District supports and provides learning to 25,000 Kindergarten to Grade 12 (K-12) students and to more than 6,000 adult learners through our established Burnaby Community & Continuing Education program. With more than 100 languages spoken in the homes of its students, the District is one of the most culturally diverse in Canada.

Burnaby School District invites applications from qualified ELEMENTARY TEACHERS – MUSIC for Full time and Part time positions. These positions are effective immediately to June 30, 2026. Required TEACHER Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or academic equivalent in an appropriate field of study;
  • Relevant methodology courses
  • Valid BC Teaching Certificate
  • Knowledge of a broad range of effective instructional strategies in order to meet the diverse needs of all students;
  • Knowledge of consultative and collaborative strategies; and
  • Recent, successful, substantive teaching or practicum experience in the relevant grade level

Required MUSIC Qualifications

  • A Bachelor of Music, Music Education degree or academic equivalent
  • A major concentration in music education in an applicable area such as Orff (Level II) or Kodaly
  • Course work and/or knowledge of choral music instruction for young voices
  • A Music education teaching methodology course(s) in the relevant areas

During the summer months, our District provides students the opportunity to take various courses. Summer session is an opportunity for teachers, who choose to, to continue working during the summer months.
