***This position can be based in either Toronto or Chicago, IL

Senior Accountant, Core Accounting at a Glance…. TheSenior Accountantreports to the Manager of Core Accounting and supports general accounting and internal controls for the North American zone. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for NA cash management – ensuring open cash receipts and payments are recorded appropriately and timely, coordinating and advising the GCC Cash team on open items, and performing monthly bank reconciliations. The role also provides support for prepaids, accruals and other miscellaneous balance-sheet items. This role will partner closely with Treasury, Controllership, Global Business Services (GBS), and Tax with a goal to challenge current processes, drive automation, and implement improvements that support growth & strategic shifts.

What’s on the menu?

  • Monitor and review banking activity throughout the month; prepare and distribute communications to stakeholders regarding open items
  • Reconcile bank accounts monthly and resolve any reconciling items in a timely manner
  • Coordinate with GCC Cash team to investigate, advise and clear open receipts and payments
  • Perform accounting and reporting tasks to support the month-end close: entering transactions, preparing journal entries, reconciling balance sheet accruals within Blackline, and assisting with analytical reviews of consolidated results
  • Coordinate with Data Assurance, IT & Treasury for any GFIN issues or updates
  • Overseer of all cash related accounting items for North America; key contact for anything cash-related including inquiries from Treasury, Plant Controllership, Operations, GCC, GBS
  • Maintain and document accounting processes and internal controls in compliance with US GAAP and Kraft Heinz policies
  • Support internal and external audits including performing internal controls, SOX testing, and respond to auditor inquiries
  • Identify process gaps and lead process-improvement and automation initiatives
  • Ad-hoc accounting projects and special assignments

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA a plus
  • 3+ years’ experience in corporate and/or public accounting
  • Proficient in SAP and Blackline (or similar ERP tool)
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP and SEC rules and regulations
  • Ability to effectively lead, manage, and prioritize multiple projects, while operating in a fast-paced, complex, global organization
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication, and conflict management skills

New Hire Base Salary Range:

$89,800.00 - $112,200.00

**Bonus:**This position is eligible for a performance-based bonus as provided by the plan terms and governing documents.

The compensation offered will take into account internal equity and may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors
