SPECIALIST – INTERMEDIATE AUDIO VISUAL

As a Specialist – Intermediate Audio Visual within our ITS Infrastructure and Data Centre Operations Department, you will be responsible for assisting in the configuration, installation, support and lifecycle management of audio/video (AV) technology and solutions across Peel Regional Police.This includes fixed and mobile video interview solutions, meeting room video conferencing systems, IPTV and in-building paging systems. Working closely with the Senior AV Specialist and cross-functional teams, including IT operations, Security Operations Services, and Facilities, they ensure the reliable and efficient operation of AV systems. They also participate in administrative duties such as gathering vendor quotes and maintaining asset inventory.

What will your typical day look like? Assists with the configuration, installation and support of audio/video solutions and equipment such as interview recording systems, IPTV, videoconferencing systems, RTID video systems and AV presentation systems, under the guidance of senior staff. Monitors and responds to support calls in the AV queue, providing first and second-line resolution and escalating complex issues to the Senior AV Specialist or vendor support as required. Participates in troubleshooting of video solutions and systems and contributes to support call statistics and service-level reporting. Provides assistance to Security Operations Services on CCTV video systems, as required. Assists in the deployment of meeting room AV systems and supports the operation of automation and related software that controls the rooms. Assists in the configuration and support of fixed in-building paging systems. Configures and assists with programming of AV equipment such as Q-SYS DSP, Crestron controllers, Shure microphones, cameras/encoders, and BrightSign media players, with oversight from senior staff. Installs and supports Cisco Webex Room Kit installations and assists with integration into other meeting room technologies. Assists with Webex Control Hub administration and provides end-user support for Webex. Maintains Appspace accounts and assists end-users with Appspace functionality and training. Configures and maintains equipment for PRPTV systems. Maintains 911 reader boards and status displays. Provides support for high-profile events such as the Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) and news conferences, under the direction of the Senior AV Specialist. Maintains architectural and as-built documents, including Visio diagrams of completed systems, and updates documentation following installations and changes. Supports the implementation of established video standards, guidelines, policies and procedures for related systems. Researches emerging technology and assists in evaluating new video hardware/software and security monitoring solutions; provides input to senior staff for recommendations. Participates in vendor information sessions and maintains current knowledge of trends in technology. Performs physical inventory and catalogues assets and equipment related to this position; assists with gathering vendor quotes and tracking equipment for support renewals. Provides technical assistance and consulting on AV-related portions of technology projects under the direction of senior staff; compiles appropriate business and technical documentation. Mentors junior staff and assists with the training of end-users on AV equipment. Participates in on-call rotation and provides after-hours, weekends or holidays support as IT Infrastructure operational needs require. Performs additional duties as assigned.

You are someone with

A University Degree or College Diploma in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Audio/Visual Production, or equivalent related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

One or more of the following certifications in the AV field is required

Avixa Certified Technology Specialist (CTS). Crestron Technical Institute – CTI-P101 or CTI-P201. Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or CCNP Collaboration. Q-SYS Level 1 or equivalent. A minimum of three (3) years of hands-on experience in the configuration, installation and support of audio/video systems (AV) and related equipment. Demonstrated working knowledge of hardware and software applications pertinent to the function including AV control systems (e.g. Crestron, Q-Sys), videoconferencing platforms (e.g. Cisco Webex, Zoom, Microsoft Teams) and digital signage (e.g. Appspace, BrightSign). Working knowledge of Analog and Digital AV technologies including audio mixers and video distribution systems. Working knowledge of IP networking concepts (TCP/IP, VLANs) as they relate to AV systems. Working knowledge of InformaCast or comparable paging systems is considered an asset. Working knowledge of CCTV video systems is considered an asset. Working knowledge in electronics components and soldering, and in assembling various connector types (e.g., RJ-45, BNC, F-connectors). Demonstrated planning, organizational and time-management skills. Demonstrated analytical, research and problem-solving skills. Effective written and oral communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to provide clear instruction and customer service to internal clients. Valid Ontario Driver’s Licence (Class G) with full driving privileges.

What we offer

The salary range for permanent, full-time position is $65,331.00 to $102,470.00 per annum. Please note that this vacancy is a newly budgeted position. Peel Regional Police offers a highly competitive compensation package; applicants will be considered for the top end of the range ($89,661.00 - $102,470.00) based on experience. This position DOES NOT allow for remote working arrangements.
