About the Role

The Corporate Finance team plays a critical role in the financial reporting of Equiton Group financial statements, the development and implementation of accounting and financial policy guidelines, and the support of investment initiatives and structures. Reporting to the Controller, the Senior Corporate Accountant will complete financial reporting, forecasting and analysis across various entities, support corporate budgets, work with external and internal auditors to compile the data for preparation of annual & quarterly financial statements, be involved in special projects and implement updated accounting guidelines. This position will collaborate with various teams including acquisitions, properties management, portfolio investment management, marketing, and compliance to ensure we apply best practices and methodologies in acquisitions, budgets and forecasts and reporting. The ideal candidate will be an organized leader, able to thrive in a fast-paced environment, detail oriented and able to manage multiple responsibilities and deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

Reconcile bank accounts daily and following up on reconciling items to ensure all reconciling items resolved on a daily basis Recording of all banking-related requirements including deposits, wires, EFTs, and account transfers daily. Assist in the preparation of tax information including income tax returns, HST returns and responses to tax authorities. Responsible for calculating monthly total commissions, referrals and trailers to be paid. Prepare monthly billings related to intercompany billings and recoverable expenses. Prepare and record the monthly interest calculations to be reviewed by Management. Prepare and update accounting schedules for reporting purposes, including, but not limited to, depreciation entries, prepaids, accruals, deferred financing, other receivables and mortgages. Prepare monthly reporting package with variance analysis. Prepare quarterly and yearly financial statements and adhoc analysis for various entities. Assist with the preparation of reporting, budget, and ongoing quarterly forecast processes. Assist in ERP implementation projects and implementing automated financial reports and reconciliations. Implement, document, and maintain adequate and effective processes & internal controls. Participate and lead process improvement initiatives as per management directions. Assist in implementing the process to record transactions by department, class level and cost centers and supporting in performance analysis of results and cost centers. Support leadership with preparation of reporting packages and financial notes disclosures for internal and external distribution. Support annual audit and review processes through preparation of workpapers and required schedules for entities, while independently coordinating with the auditors. Ad hoc responsibilities as required.

What You Bring

CPA designation (or actively pursuing completion) is required. Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline, with 3+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience preferably in an audit firm Strong understanding of IFRS, financial reporting, forecasting, budgeting, and month-end/year-end processes. Experience preparing consolidated financial statements; exposure to multi-currency environments is considered an asset. Knowledge of fund accounting, real estate investments, and/or private capital structures is preferred. Experience with NetSuite or similar ERP systems is an asset. Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial information, agreements, and supporting documentation. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present recommendations clearly and concisely. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the broader Microsoft Office suite. Highly organized with strong attention to detail, time management, and the ability to manage multiple competing priorities. Collaborative team player who thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and takes ownership of deliverables.

The expected annualized base salary range for this position is $80,000 - $95,000 plus a discretionary bonus. The actual base salary offered will take into consideration factors including, but not limited to, the individual’s skill, experience, and relevant education or training.
