Electromechanical Test Technician
Are you an experienced technician with deep competence in electromechanical systems and a passion for mission-critical systems? Join Curtiss-Wright Indal as part of our Test and Field Service Team, where you will validate, deploy, and support aircraft handling systems onboard naval vessels. You will work on highly engineered subsystems and perform rigorous qualification, performance, and acceptance testing before delivery.
We are seeking an experienced Electromechanical Technician to take ownership of system-level testing and occasional shipboard installation. This position combines hands-on testing, troubleshooting, and data acquisition with field service deployment.

Your Challenge:
- Set up and execute performance, qualification, and stress testing for naval aircraft handling systems using established test procedures.
- Install and configure test rigs, fixtures, and data acquisition systems to capture test results accurately.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues in complex assemblies: mechanical motion systems, actuator controls, sensors, hydraulic circuits, feedback loops, safety interlocks, motor drives, etc.
- Document test results, nonconformance reports, test reports, lessons learned, and feedback for continuous product improvement.
- Support shipboard installation, commissioning, and acceptance testing of systems.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to review test anomalies and propose corrective action.
- Perform preventative maintenance and calibration on test equipment, ensuring readiness for campaigns.
- Operate rigging and handling equipment (cranes, forklifts) to move and secure large test articles.
- Contribute to LEAN, reliability, and 5S initiatives to improve throughput, test repeatability, maintainability, and uptime.
What You Bring:
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with electromechanical system testing in a demanding environment – aerospace, defense, or industrial.
- Demonstrated experience in system-level testing, verification, and troubleshooting.
- Strong fundamentals in electrical controls, wiring, sensors, and instrumentation.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic schematics.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across integrated systems – Motors, drives, actuators, hydraulics, controls.
- Experience working with data acquisition systems (DAQ), test automation, signal processing, and instrumentation – LabVIEW, MATLAB, or equivalent is an asset.
- Experience in on-site system integration or field service.
- Strong documentation, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to occasionally travel internationally.
- Commitment to safety, quality, and adherence to test protocols and systems.
- Previous work with naval or aerospace preferred
- Ability to operate lifting & rigging equipment (cranes, forklifts) for large test articles preferred
- Knowledge of Environmental Stress Screening preferred
- High-voltage 3-phase systems training / experience preferred
- Lean / Six Sigma, 5S, or structured continuous improvement background preferred
- Excellent diagnostic thinking, problem-solving, and an analytical mindset preferred
