Description JOB DESCRIPTION The Ontario Shores is currently seeking a full-time Social Worker, reporting to the Clinical Manager of the Forensic Assessment in-patient service area. The primary responsibility of the FAU Social Worker is to complete psychosocial assessments, including the gathering of collateral information and completing clinical interviews. The successful candidate will be a Social Worker with sound knowledge of clinical social work in the area of mental health and addiction issues.
Responsibilities include: psychosocial assessments; individual, group and family/couple therapy; liaison with community social agencies; active involvement as a member of an interdisciplinary team and discharge coordination and planning.
Requirements
- An MSW is required.
- The successful candidate must be registered with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers in good standing.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Psychosocial Rehabilitation and Recovery.
- 3-5 years psychiatric experience in a mental health facility or service is desirable.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the OCSWSSW Standards of Practice and commitment to maintaining reflective practice standards as described by the College.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Mental Health, and relevant policies and legislation, such as the Mental Health Act and PHIPA is required.
- In-depth experience with information gathering and completing patient assessments.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrated advanced knowledge of the theory and practice of clinical social/mental health work.
- Thorough knowledge of social work treatment methods applied in mental health settings/community.
- Demonstrated competence in individual, group and family therapy and crisis intervention skills.
- Knowledge of concurrent disorders an asset.
- Experience/knowledge of the Forensic system an asset.
- The candidate will have demonstrated excellent interpersonal and effective oral/written communication skills.
- The ability to work with clients of diverse ethno racial and cultural backgrounds and proficiency in a second language would be considered an asset.
- Ability to perform the physical demands of the position.
- Variable hours may be required due to patient demand.
