Job Summary

Cooper Equipment Rentals is expanding our Used Equipment Division in Western Canada! We’re looking for a driven, knowledgeable equipment sales professional to help grow our presence in the Western Canada market.

This is a unique opportunity to build and manage a greenfield used equipment territory across Western Canada, with the autonomy to develop your market while being supported by a national team and strong inventory access.

In this role, you’ll focus on selling used construction equipment while directly influencing fleet returns and overall margin performance. Success in this position requires strong equipment knowledge, a solid understanding of market values, and the ability to identify the right sales channel to maximize returns.

You’ll work closely with our national used equipment division and branch operations teams to evaluate retired fleet, determine readiness for sale, and build a strong customer base of contractors, wholesalers, and equipment buyers.

What You’ll Be Doing

Duties and Responsibilities

Sales & Territory Development

  • Develop and execute a territory sales plan to grow used equipment revenue and margin across Alberta and Western Canada.
  • Monitor market trends and competitor pricing to adjust disposition strategies in real time.
  • Prospect new customers including contractors, owner-operators, wholesalers, and resellers.
  • Maintain and expand relationships with existing Cooper customers.
  • Travel regularly throughout the territory to meet customers and assess equipment needs.
  • Meet and exceed sales targets while maintaining strong margin performance.

Equipment Evaluation & Disposition

  • Assess retired rental fleet to determine resale readiness.
  • Evaluate equipment condition and identify any required repairs prior to sale.
  • Take photos of equipment and create accurate equipment descriptions to include on equipment advertisements and in communications with customers.
  • Determine the best path to market — retail, wholesale, or auction — to maximize resale value.
  • Utilize market data and internal tools (Rouse, PowerBI, Machinery Trader) to support pricing decisions.
  • Negotiate confidently within established pricing guidelines to protect and grow margin.
  • Ensure all sales documentation and invoicing are completed accurately.

Collaboration & Support

  • Work closely with Branch Managers and Operations teams to identify sellable fleet.
  • Support a team-based approach to used equipment sales across the organization.
  • Champion Cooper’s safety policies and company values in all activities.

What You’ll Bring to the Team

Requirements and Qualifications

  • 5+ years experience in construction equipment sales or operations is preferred.
  • Strong product knowledge for construction equipment, and understanding of used equipment valuation across retail, wholesale, and auction markets.
  • Mechanical aptitude and the ability to confidently assess equipment condition.
  • Experience selling either new or used equipment (transactional sales experience) is an asset.
  • Strong negotiation skills with a focus on margin and profitability.
  • Self-motivated and comfortable managing a territory independently.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, and a high level of professionalism.
  • Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driver's abstract (no more than 3 demerit points), and the ability and willingness to travel regularly (mainly throughout Western Canada).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; CRM experience considered an asset.
  • Experience using Rouse, Machinery Trader, or similar market valuation tools is an asset.

**Note:**Posted compensation range reflects total expected earnings (base salary + expected commission combined). The annual base salary for this position will be between $60,000 to $85,000, with total earnings expected to be aound $100 000 to $150 000+.
