About the role

Job Description\n\nWhat is the opportunity?\n\nThe Sr. Manager, Operational and CUSO Risk Initiatives is responsible for\ndeveloping, implementing, and sustaining the RBC Operational Risk Framework\nacross RBC Global Asset Management-US (GAM-US), ensuring alignment with the\nEnterprise-wide Operational Risk Management (ORM) strategy to manage\noperational risk, articulate the operational risk profile and risk appetite,\nand enable improved decision-making that explicitly considers operational\nrisk.\n\nThis position will also be responsible for the review and analysis of new and\nupdated RBC Enterprise and Combined US Operations (CUSO) standards and\npolicies, subsequently designing, implementing, and facilitating the execution\nof corresponding GAM-US programs in compliance with those standards and\npolicies.\n\nThis role also guides ORM Framework within GAM-US by providing expertise,\nadvice, and counsel to senior management, enhancing their ability to\nanticipate and manage operational risks effectively. Will oversee the\nadequacy and strength of the control environment throughout GAM-US,\nrecommending management action to ensure the operational risk profile supports\nthe achievement of business objectives.\n\nThese responsibilities will be accomplished with a collaborative mindset,\npromoting a strong culture of control awareness and risk mitigation,\nsuccessfully executing change while remaining focused on business priorities.\n\nWhat will you do?\n\n * Identify key operational risk exposures within GAM-US and perform operational risk assessments in a coordinated manner with other groups and in accordance with RBC’s Enterprise Operational Risk Management Framework and regulatory requirements.\n * Perform control testing and monitoring to assess the effectiveness of risk management frameworks across GAM-US. Ensure business activities remain within the firm’s risk appetite and regulatory obligations. Document, escalate, and track remediation of control deficiencies risk events.\n * Assist in the evaluation of internal loss events, external events, other operational issues, and in the completion of scenario analyses.\n * Coordinate of audits and remediation of any issues identified. Incumbents in this position are expected to operate with a high level of independence in forming conclusions and resolutions and to participate in a variety of projects and initiatives.\n * Review and analyze new and updated Enterprise and CUSO standards and policies; design, implement, and facilitate the execution of corresponding programs for GAM-US.\n * Lead and manage the projects and initiatives related to the changes under the new/updated standards and policies.\n * Monitor Enterprise and CUSO standard and policy pipeline for new/updated standards and policies impacting GAM-US; create process for intake, analysis, sizing, project management, and change management for new/updated standards and policies.\n * Develop new and enhance existing team processes and written procedures related to Enterprise and CUSO standard and policy requirements.\n * Champion a culture of risk awareness and accountability across RBC.\n\nWhat do you need to succeed?\n\nMust-have\n\n * Progressive experience with at least 5 years in the financial services industry (preferably Asset or Wealth Management), with significant industry knowledge and demonstrated success in directing and leading projects and initiatives.\n * Experience in working with US regulations and/or regulators (SEC, FINRA, Federal Reserve).\n * Willingness to collaborate with various teams to identify and resolve issues, ensure that all business activities are adhering to rules and regulations and communicate internal policies and procedures to business leaders.\n * Skill and judgment to be able to manage multiple projects and initiatives at a time and deal effectively with and influence business partners, stakeholders, and senior management.\n * Proven skill in handling conflict, strategic thinking and decision making in a time-sensitive environment, meticulous attention to detail and strong written and verbal communication skills.\n * Bachelor’s degree or higher in Finance, Business, or related field.\n\nWhat’s in it for you?\n\nWe thrive on the challenge to be our best, progressive thinking to keep\ngrowing, and working together to deliver trusted advice to help our clients\nthrive and communities prosper.
