What is the opportunity:
The Research Assistant will provide project, research and administrative support to the Industry Development & Support organization. Key deliverables of the position include drafting policy and procedure documents, research, event support and collection of critical health and safety resources. The incumbent will be responsible for the preparation of executive summaries, safety meeting presentations, toolbox talks, and other business documents as required. Provide analytical assessments on data and develop reports and recommendations on trending issues.
What will you do:
- Research and collate a repository of applicable health and safety research projects, best practices, standards and other initiatives for inclusion in the ESC CBoK (Common Body of Knowledge).
- Provide statistical analysis of data, producingreportsand recommendations.
- Work on project-based initiatives from the departmental operational plan in support of Energy Safety Canada’s overall strategic plan.
- Provide administrative support to the team – prepare presentations, proposal writing, safety presentations and safety toolbox talks.
- Other duties as required.
What you need to succeed:
- Certificate or (or working towards) diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Business or other related field is required
- 1 year+ work experience as an administrative assistant or similar
- Knowledge of OHS regulations is required
- Experience in policy, procedure or formal report writing is an asset
- Experience in research or project management
- Microsoft Office training; Advanced computer skills with Microsoft Office, Adobe and Excel
- Website revision experience, iMIS database training and SharePoint experience isan asset
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Expert customer service skills
- Ability to act with independence and exercise sound judgment
- Demonstrated sensitivity, tact, as well as initiative
- Critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Team player
- Exemplary interpersonal skills and exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- Well organized and able to handle multiple tasks quickly and accurately
- Research skills and able to turn data into charts and statistical reports
